Re-hashing/sampling others music isn't really talent...or creating anything new...unless you weren't there in the day to then recognize the ripoff...then yeah...."new".
Yawn.It happened to us as well though. A lot of the early rock tunes were covers/blues numbers/etc. from earlier artists...but thank BOB they didn't just SAMPLE their predecessors and were inspired enough to learn to play an instrument and go on to write and play their own music. (my point)
