Blaze & Daze

I had one fly right into my kitchen window one day and knock itself out cold. We did a little photo shoot as she came to but I couldn't talk myself into trying to hold it. Those talons are like razor blades.
Yeah, he leaves his holes in me whenever we hang out. Worse part is when his beak gets under my cuticle or nail. He's really sweet though. I scratch behind his head and he fluffs up and coos. I don't feed him. It purely just a hang out friendship.

Keep him away from your bird feeder! I saw one just yesterday scoop up a fledgling. Might have been a sharp shinned, it happened so quick it was just a blur.
I was worried about my squirrels and chipmunks at firstbbut I've never seen him hunt here. I don't even think they get scared when he shows up. They just go about their biz. My guess is that I've never shown him this was a place to eat. Just smoke and chill lol

In 2021 for about 2 months, I had a Coopers that would sit on the awning of my garage and wait for me to get home from the greenhouse. The first week it'd wait until I was in the house then it'd hop on the hood of my car under the shade. The second week, he'd hop on the hood before I was in the house. The last month he got real brave and didn't wait for me to get out of the car before he hopped in the shade.

I'd get out, hit him in the beak with a cloud of smoke and say, "Sup."

To this day I don't know if birds get high but I'm pretty sure he was chilling waiting for his 3:30 ganja hit.

Google knows...

So yes, little dude was getting a buzz off the smoke pouring out of my car. Kind of makes sense as at the greenhouses we were surrounded by a tree line and the hawks got closer than I've ever seen in any other setting until my driveway. There were times I'd be counting bugs and look up and see a hawk just chillin' on top of the greenhouse and they had no fear of us out at the break area, they would be hanging around the fence waiting for the lost potato chip to go flying in the wind. It was wild to hear them, it was like out of an old west movie. Amazing animals.

Trying to talk myself into going to the commissary to get meat, we have no hamburger or steaks and only some country style pork ribs for the piggie department. Ho hum.
Feel ya. Last night I offered my daughter ham or pork chops, two things we have more than enough of and she was like, "Do we have any real meat." I found some pulled pork and she was like, "Eh that's a little better." I'm like damn one of the last 3 packs of ground beef we have. Whole family is getting really tired of pork in general.
