Blueberry

I get strong blueberry terps in various blueberry crosses. I just had some really strong blueberry terps show up in the Blue D #5 I grew a while back, but it was also a potent OG. I still have some in a grove bag and when I open it up, I smell pure blueberry now, and less OG. It actually made me want to seek out some blueberry too. I never see Lemon Hoko's blueberry for sale when I check the Seed Source. I know people who are getting good blueberry terps from the AKBB 907 Blue Genes too, so I'll be picking that up soon. The next seeds I want to pop are ESB from Fleur Du Mal, although the strain is from Oldtimer1, who's also known for Oldtimer Haze. It's Nigerian Skunk x 1996 Dj Short Blueberry-if you ever get a chance to sample this strain, take it. The time I was able to get some, back after one of Oldtimer's big seed giveaways on Overgrow or ICmag, I can't remember which, I didn't get any blueberry terps, but it's a spectacular zero anxiety sativa high AND I think it's a good place to find some strong thcv.

first batch blueberry bud sagarmantha was dj f2
i have it
i keep 15 seeds
excobar worked with true blue and old blueberry. he did sativa lineage more than dutch
he maked a wonderful cross chem d x true blue
breeder steve is very good when you want blue.
Spreaking of breeder steve, I almost picked up Sweet Tooth #4 along with the ESB and now regret not doing it. You're right, he always had good blueberry to work with.

Blueberry is the best strain in the world, to me. Had a guy back when I was in highschool, “tony” who often had that light green dense little nugs of pure blueberry smelling and tasting weed. It was as distinct as a cherry is a cherry. Never had any smoke like it since. Wasn’t the strongest high, but by far the most happy smiles all around “high” you could ever ask for. Amazing smoke. Gonna have to try the lemon hoko.

You guys are gonna laugh but “seedsman blueberry” had quite good blueberry nose and flavor. Cheap seed. Wasn’t the “tony” blueberry, but it was somewhat similar.

That's 1 of the phenos I had, you described it spot on....except those light green nugs on mine would have like 4 nugs per ounce that had light - north Carolina-blue striping on them, I'd never seen such light blue on a nug before, usually it's a dark blue that looks purple or is straight up purple....this was 100% light ass blue. Best weed I ever smoked for flavor, by fucking far.

Also that light green sativa blueberry had a much better blueberry flavor than the indica....the indica was awesome flavor back then, bur the sativa was even better.

My pride and joy is my Blue Satellite Redux, I’ve taken that old school DJS indica Blueberry and hit it with Breeder Steve’s Blue Satellite 2.2, blueberry crossed to blueberry. Just harvested my F2 seeds and super excited to get those into testers hands.

Pheno’s range from green blueberry with eucalyptus terps to sweet floral purple blueberry. Cleaning up the harvested plants the past few days I couldn’t stop sticking the buds to my nose, so lovely.

I have DJ Short pre-2013 blueberry, among others... I also have a newer pack of DJ Short Flo, soon on my list to sprout

I also remember circa 1996 a friend having 'blueberry' and there was some blue tint in the golden nuggets.. don't remember the smell/taste/high

Imo blueberry is better in crosses than by itself. Many top strains have been blueberry hybrids, I grew out peak seeds blueberry and skunkberry years ago. The blueberry was cool, yielded good nice flavor but hermed at the end of flower due to grower error. The Skunkberry was straight fire, monster sticky colas sweet grapfruit/berry flavor and strong af, I wish I still had that cut but time moves on.

Dutch passion does have seeds that originated from Dj but they ruined it by breeding away from the mutants.

DP's blueberry were the 2nd pack of seeds I bought back in 2002, right about the time they acquired blueberry seeds from Dj and he helped them pick a male, and all 4 females from that pack were bomb.

2 had purple stems, slow twisted leaf mutants and straight bb tasting. Other 2 had green stems, vigorous monsters compared to the purple stems but totally lacked that bb flavor, not bad tastes but no where as tasty as the mutants.

I tried their blueberry in 2010-11. Both regs and feminized and shit was nothing like those purple stem old plants but closer to the green stem pheno. Now if someone who never grew that old purple stem blueberry smelled the plants they'd probably say it smells blueberry like but not even close to me.

Im guessing you might fine a great pheno if you pop enough beans. But I've found better blueberry flavors from crosses using the real Santa Cruz blue dream.
Thats the blueberry i know it has genetically purple striping on the stems pretty memorable for sure even the green phenos i seen have this trait regardless of temps nutrition etc if i dont see it id be wondering is this really blueberry

Might be good but its a hybrid not a pure blueberry line they added something else into it i remember reading it on another forum if my memory serves me right

Thanks for clarifying.

Imo the true pre98/99 is extinct - because like you said, old cuts go bad, and for some reason ppl let them go bad instead of making seeds out of them (which I think can rejuvenate genetics/traits)

Glad to see you made seeds, I hope it does rejuvenate the flavor that's missing from today's blueberry.

I hold the pre98 in a special place in my heart, ppl who have only tried post 2000 blueberry don't understand why its such a unique strain.

Potency CAN be among the best, and flavor absolutely IS the best, bar none.

But until someone experiences the flavor, it sounds mythical....I'll never forget telling my boys about it and they didn't believe me until I finally got some and smoked them out, that was 20+ years ago and they STILL ask me if I'm able to get it lol
I dont think so its just in private hands not most breeders im sure someone who loves it still got it somewhere in seed there is plenty of folks who love weed but also dont bother with the scene keep themselves to themselves etc not hermits but along those lines so i dont think the original in seed is extinct yet just damn rare plus for all i know i could have some mixed in in my unlabeled seed stash i kept from all the good bud through the years that came with seeds in it it was pretty common years ago so who knows lol i just hope its alive somewhere i could be wrong and just being optimistic but on this one i hope im right lol wasnt the most potent herb ever ime to me but it was special taste wise just like the real cali o is but different of course as its blueberry

I remember "the" blueberry strain because I grew up in the 70's. It must have come from some type of landrace from Mexico because that's where 90% of all our weed in the upper midwest came from. I don't recall any Afghan or other strains from more exotic locations -other than when a friend joined the peace corps at the end of the Vietnam war and brought back a bunch of Thai sticks. But I do remember the blueberry being around from time-to-time. It had a skunky undertone -like a skunk that ate a bunch of blueberries and then got hit by a car. It wasn't just the smell. The rare thing about searching for it, now, isn't to find the one that smells the most like blueberries. You also have to get the one that transfers that flavor into the smoke and makes you smack your lips a few times. That's "THE" blueberry....but where is it? I know it's not in DJ Short's version. It smells like blueberries but tastes nothing like blueberries.

I got a bag of blueberry a few years back that was fruity with slight blueberry undertones but also very skunky hashy with subtle refreshing eucalyptus or mint like with a very soothing buzz, And remembering how sweet and skunky/fruity dank the orange crush I used to get in 2001 there must have been something special about the DJ short/ sagarmatha blueberry in the 90s which was the parent of the OG orange crush although the bcga descriptions says they got it thru Marc Emery so maybe it was already at that point a next gen from sagarmatha.

Here is a description of the 90s sag blueberry from BCGA:

“BC Growers Association
Blueberry and It's Yields

Blueberry - 10 seeds purchased from Marc Emery at Hemp BC. Reported to have been
supplied by Sagarmatha Seeds. Reported to be mostly indica plant 2 - 3' high that matures in 45 - 55 days. Reported to produce large crystalized buds with natural occurring blueish hues and an unmistakable berry taste and aroma.
Of the ten seeds, I got 5 males and 5 females. They all started out looking very deformed with wrinkled leaves and varigation. At first I thought it was do to excessive inbreeding but later found out that the strain was treated with cholchicine. Two males and one female were precosious and would not stop flowering regardless of light cycle. These were discarded. Of the remaining 3 males, two would not shed pollen (they would flower but the pollen would not drop). These were also discarded. The fifth male (BL-9) was by far the most robust and fortunately did shed pollen. It was used to pollenate select mothers. Two of the females produced great buds that didn't smell like blueberry so seeds were collected (BL-9 was father) and then discarded. The final 2 females were what I was looking for (BL-8 & BL-10). Very robust and they produced the sweetest berry like smoke. Clones of both were kept as mothers and seeds produced with BL-9 as the father.
These clones mature at about 3 feet tall.with a few side branches. All deformities have dissapeared in mature plants and successive clones. They have very thick stems. The main colas are about 12" long with tight crystaline oval buds. They appear to be well suited to sea of green application. They have a high calyx to leaf ratio. Buds are blueish and purpleish and smell like such sweet blueberrys.
They are not my most potent strain but are my favourite. The smoke is very sweet and good tasting and the high is uplifting and pleasant.”

So I guess the original Sag/Emery blueberry that BCGA describes here has some auto flowering characteristics at least in some of the phenos?

Also I’ve read that the Sagarmatha blueberry was originally stabilized or backcrossed with a skunk (but that might just be rumor I’m not sure where I read that)

Ive got some (feminised) Sag blueberry right now (haven’t flowered it yet) since none of their regular seeds popped but I’m not sure if it’s quite the same phenos as what BCGA describes here.. (they seem taller than SOG type indicas) but maybe those phenos like bcga describes are in there.

Random side note, AKBB Vintage Blueberry share this trait but only really if the plant is in too small of a container for too long.

I have been told the AKBB is the most similar to the old DJBB, I still have not run them yet. I had one but it didn't make it through treatment for thrips..

Not so much auto flowering as hermaphrodism, probably a result of being treated with colchicine. Vic High's experience for another perspective:

"Of the second 10 seeds purchased from Marc Emery seven survived the seedling stage and a round of damping off. They are also demonstrating the wrinkled and variegated leaf colchicine induced deformities present in the first batch. March 10, the leaves are a little lighter in colour and wider than in the first batch. Five have grown out of the deformities and two are still stunted and quite deformed. I ended up with 3 healthy females and one runty deformed one. Due to a mite infestation, the seedlings produced shitty quality and yields. I kept clones from the healthy ones and will test them again when conditions are better."

I grew Lemonhokos Blueberry and its amazing. It has a sweet yet sour blueberry smell & flavor. The high is pure euphoria.
Does anyone have any pics of lemonhokos blueberry? Ive been hearing great things about this blueberry for a bit...seems it could be the closest to the original 90s blueberry around?

If you want definite blueberry terps snag a pack of humbolst seed company blueberry muffin- has great baked blueberry and blueberry candy terps.
