The same can be said for good literature.

After the story of how one person pulled information from Amazon and Google, I became curious about how cybersecurity works. I decided to read Adam Szostak, called Threat Modeling: Designing for Security. It's interesting to figure out and understand how things work and what problems can arise. It is interesting to understand how other companies that I use, like itmagic, take care of the security of my data.

The book banning trend is helping to get teenagers wanting to read. Lots of banned book clubs springing up around the country. We all know how effective it is to tell a teenager not to do something.

i was wondering if that was happening...the quickest way to get a teen to do something is to tell them not to do it...maybe they should try that with math..."no, you can't do trig, it's much too dangerous, the army teaches people how to do trig."....

I'm reluctant to give out this site, but if you make less than 30-40k a year, use this site to find many books that that are available about cannabis cultivation, without having to pay for 'em. As I used to say on the mp3 newsgroups, it isn't stealing if I never would have bought it in the first place:

If you make more than than 30-40k, fucking pay for the writers hard work, because writing fucking books is not easy thing to do, and writers like everyone else, should be paid for their work.

I like Stephen King, a lot actually. But I've not read anything by him in more than 15 years. My exp with him is from his older books. Mostly I like to read the classics.

i've been buying all the dune books i haven't read yet, either on Audible, or used from Amazon. just about have them all now, gonna start listening/reading them in order ...that should only take about a year :o

Week one of not having a job got me thinking about writing again. I've always wanted to do a story about the people around Jesus, especially his Uncle Matt (my view is Matthias was Joseph's older half brother, not father) as well as his bothers and sisters. It's been 20 years or longer since I did any Q research, so I've jumped back in with both feet. Lots of new works out there, plus finding older stuff is easier. I will have to put my local librarians to searching, but for now here are a few of the easy to get stuff.

And since I write fiction, I was hoping for a good hook. Joseph of Arimathea seemed tailor made. There are already legends in the English speaking world about him traveling with a teenage Jesus, so I thought what if he was half brother to Jesus. I did some digging and found out someone else had already mined that lode, even deeper than I had thought to go. Booyson lays out that Joseph the father of Jesus might also be Josephus the historian.

This will be on my wish list, but finding these scholarly book in the library system is a challenge.

I just read a fantasy book translated from Russian called Vita Nostra, it's well worth checking out if you like urban fantasy. I think it's set in modern Russia, but it's hard to tell-it's kind of a "magic academy" type book, if the magic academy is actually a Soviet school of metaphysical science or something-it's not cheesy though, very smart and very bleak. I loved it and there are 2 more in the series but they haven't been translated.

Already finding new material. I had not heard of the wanted poster before.

. . . . . . . a remark in Colin Wilson’s Atlantis and the Kingdom of the Neanderthals:

The Romans issued a wanted poster for Jesus, which still survives, describing him as short (about four foot six), bald-headed, and hump-backed.

This description of Christ appears to match the description of Paul in the apocryphal The Acts of Paul and Thecla: A man of small stature, with a bald head and crooked legs, in a good state of body, with eyebrows meeting and nose somewhat hooked.

Investing For The Rest Of Us by David L. Wright. Really informative book with plenty of information for both skilled investors and beginners. I liked that there is practical information for average ppl like me. I started to learn about investments about a year ago. Have nothing invest yet, but considering to start from the most reliable and stable companies like FB or Fitbit, for example, because as stated at https://bnlfinance.com/why-fitbit-and-facebook-are-very-similar-companies/ they are pretty similar. So if there are like-minded people here, please share where are you learning about investments from?
