Bottom watering?

Hi everyone. I'm on week 2 of flower and I don't know if it's the coco in roots original or what, but my soil is dry as dust after only 48hrs of watering. My plants will also wilt around this time too.

I have my plants in 5 gallon fabric pots and I have them about 1" above the ground (see attached). I was doing this to help prevent overwatering and fungus gnats, but now that they are older and thirstier should I instead put them in saucers on the ground and/or add bottom watering?

Do not do that. Any salts, etc built up in the bottom of those pots will wreak havoc if you do.

You're doing it right and your plants are proof. Keep doing what you've been doing.

If it makes you feel any better, I water my plants every day in coco. I have one in a 1gal pail that gets fed 2x daily. It's the price we pay to not pay the price.

I grow in pro mix which dries out in about 3 days. Everyone I know in coco waters st least once a day.

Water slowly next time with a drop of soap as a wetting agent. A drip system would work perfectly. You have dry pockets that won't re-wet if you water quickly due to hydroscopic properties of medium.

i bottom fed my smart pots w/ coco for a very long time, salt buildup is something you have to deal with as creature mentioned but thats just with coco in general, doesnt matter if you top or bottom feed you will buildup salt and you will have to flush the plants occasionally to deal with said build up. i always liked bottom feeding better as it causes the same air vacuum effect as you would get in an ebb and flow system and roots freaking love it! also when my plants are in veg in coco i can get away with watering once every 2-3 days, 3 days in earlier veg, 2 days in later veg/early bloom then finally once a day from mid bloom until finish.
