The NDP sailed to victory Tuesday night with a solid win that cements leader Wab Kinew as Manitoba's first First Nations premier and also nets the party enough seats to form a majority government.
I'm not partisan to any party so I hope that he does a good job as the first native Premier for that province. I'll assume he has a good ear to the ground on some of the issues Manitoba is facing.

I hope he does not waste 180 million dollars digging a hole.

They would end up with fuck all and no way to sell their oil except through the US and depending on the elections there, they might not want to. We are going green, and their oil will have a diminishing importance, tarsands oil will go down first and fast like coal. No jobs and all those young people will move back home, they were educated for Alberta in other provinces. So, these right-wing morons wanna go it alone, just as oil is about to go in the toilet over the next decade and in 20 years they might be a have not province. No oil, and with climate change induced drought it could mean no agriculture or ranching either, the place is already water starved, forest fires could mean an end to the mountain tourist business too.

This is Canadian conservative douchbaggery at it's finest and that's the d-bag to force it on us.

There is no f'n way Alberta can take over half of the CPP funds now in the bank and they'll just lose it all investing it in future oil expansion so we'll end up with nothing but higher taxes to pay it all back.

Screw all this shit! I'm going fishing!

Here's the thing, a lot of people from the Maritimes went to Albertia for work and a lot move back to retire and cash in on lower property prices and they bring their CPP with them along with work pensions.

Got one rainbow about 10" long that I brought home to join his missing friends in my dugout. Half dozen in there now. :)

Took my drone and did some video of my poor fly casting technique out in the boat. Too cold? I'll be hauling my little tinny down to a lake until I need a quad to drag it across the ice to open water! :) 'Tis getting chilly here too with the forecast saying we are going to have a prolonged fall season due to el nino so I might get a few more trips in than usual. Those rhythmic ripples are from the aerator and go clear across the lake and it's noisy as well.

Gearing up to go hunting for the first time and picked up a nice Savage Axis .270 with a Bushnell scope, Redhead plastic case and strap, trigger lock and a red dot bore sight you stick in the barrel to sight in the scope for $400. Would cost me more to get a scope mount and scope for my old .303. Also got 3 full boxes of 150gr soft points for $60 to go with it from my neighbour selling for a friend knocked down and out by a stroke. Picked up a new 12 gauge pump Canadian Defender shotgun for $400 just on Friday when we went to the city. Has a pistol grip, raptor style one and a shoulder stock with 3 chokes and a flash suppressor. Made in Turkey FFS.

As a senior I can get my license for only $8.30 and a white-tail tag for $8.25. Hell of a deal. Still have to take the online first time hunter's course for $70 so will sign up for that tonight I think.

With ground bison going for $17/lb I'm looking forward to some free meat this winter and there's lots of areas just 10 - 20 min away that have an abundance of white-tail ripe for the picking. Hoping to find a buddy that just wants to go out looking in the late afternoons. Not really into the crack-o-dawn expedition thing. Already getting dark by 7:30 now.

Jesus all the leaves are gone from the trees, and they've just barely started to turn here on the coast! 10 to 15 C here with long falls and generally not much or no snow until Christmas these days, winter seems to last from December to March with frequent thaws and rain to wipe away any snow.

Typical of coastal climates that stay warmer in the winters due to proximity to the ocean. I grew up next door to Vancouver on Lulu Island in the Fraser River. Wet, slushy snow if we got any at all some winters. Rain, rain and more rain but everything is clean and green including the siding on the north side of the house. :)

Our summer/fall season is a lot longer now that 20 years ago when I bought this place. All last winter you could see the stubble in the field beside us when it used to be about 3ft average come spring with 10ft drifts all over my yard the first years we were here. Last two Mays were hot as hell with two heat domes the summer before last. I'm watching climate change IRL.
