Choosing a rosin press

Yea and about the herm my current strain does it. I learned its just common, everyones trying to release the newest strain every year. Perhaps a lot just arent ready idk.

Well an actual herm is different if its like balls everywhere thats different. If its just a few and doesnt mess with the majority of results Id think its the same.

Mine will nanner fertile nanners and grow some seeds or moderately but it still had the resin I wanted. One said not to press seeded weed but I just did it again its fine.

Didnt notice until they were smashed the stand right out.

Yea I pressed 220F for 45 sec vs 1.5 mins the rosin was the same quality. Its after 1.5 mins it starts to cook it.
Warming up now. I'll go 45 seconds.

I yielded 14oz two clones in 2.5x5 and 3.25 to 3.5oz per plant in the 2x2’s. About what is the yield and flower time in your experience? Mines 10-11 wks the happier and well lit the faster.

So far this seems like the right move but those two drastically change the daily budget of use. Even at similar yields and 12wks from flip is pretty good. If its any more bud weight and shorter flower itll drastically improve.

like say 1.5gs a day to 2gs a day being able to dab. Right now Im at 1.2gs a day but I may not get as lucky with sift rosin next time ir bud yield.

4.16g puck @220f 120micron bag. .93g return. Interesting its in the same ballpark as far as return (maybe rough trim ?). Accidently reset my timer during the press so had to guestimate 45 seconds.

As far as plant yields are concerned I can say exactly. 48 days from germination to flip then 8 weeks flower for pheno 1 and 9 weeks for pheno 2.
yield 6oz total of legit bud. Around 3oz per plant +/-. I don't run my plants too hard because I have plenty of weed usually by my next harvests. The buds on both plants were rock hard.

Thats awesome! Appreciate ya for answering me! This is by far the best chance I have without actually hunting through a bean collection. Just to likely not find it.

Even if its 10wks thats really good. If I yield 22oz in 25 square foot Id have 1.8gs a day which is a huge improvement. Of course its not official til Im pressing it but Im stoked!

Yea it didnt appear to yield more with 220f but it has a few times with couple strains I grew.

I think your almost 100% going to get some great plants for pressing. They were both loaded with trichomes. I will definitely be growing these again.

I just crunched the numbers Id be at 1.6gs a day easy but is a stretch to say 14oz in the 2.5x5 Id just let it get big as I can with out ill effect. Since I never ran it and going off minimal input.

Even if I asked all day its gonna fill in and finish different. My veg tent only allows for 1.5x1.5 veg plants. Or get creative with supercrop.

If I get 14oz there and 5oz in the short 2x4 id be making the right move and thats calculating 21.4% or so. Less than yours. 6gs an oz.

Im really at like .85gs a day sure thing. I got lucky with dry sift rosin making up a large portion. Got lucky yielding more bud too.

10-12gs dry sift rosin guestimate. .15gs dab a day unless I get lucky and get 2 dabs a day or more. That just leaves one tent. If Im really after yield and potency Idk what to do with this last tent.

I guess dedicate it for rosin of the most pure. Sift the whole thing for sift rosin. Eventually find a washer and use that tent to learn to wash and press and make that a daily dab or two or more.

I still dont get how you press flower and get something that can go straight into your dab rig. Flower Rosin Posse!! Im gonna be stuck dabbin it for some years but Im %100 ok with it. Stuff gets me zooted!

Soo did you decide on the finall temps and time, pressure for best pressing???
Who were you asking? If you ask me it depends on strain and your personal preference. As you can see pegboy’s strain seem to of done better at 185F.

It depends on you too like for me I like when its easy to collect at higher temps, this strain simply yields better high temp.

I almost thought it was similar for all strains but forget Im running clones so Im building experience but not in all aspects. Like with new strains every time.

I will up temps 10F at a time if it yields good low temp but taste weird, its worked to make it a better taste.

1.5 mins should be good at low temp any longer is hard on the press. Besides, I can tell based on how clean it is around the puck if its a large ring and spotty, then the rosin puddles up..

It was pressed too long IMO especially high temps. I assume its the rosin flowing to coolness and enough pressure was applied, all the rosin already escaped and just sat on plates seeking coolness.

45 sec was enough time high temp. Any longer I see the blotchy rings. I read rosin can lock up in the material by increasing pressure too slowly and stopping each time. Also can blow out but I dont mind blow outs.

Its all an art I just run through the basics with a strain and get to work once I find my dab tool weighs good enough with the collected rosin. Test dab for flavor.

I found its true running clones gives consistency I can say after 5 clones a pound and half it was very consistent. New strain new rodeo.

A new strain Id do one at 180f and one at 220f see how it yields. If you have temp control both plates I do say 180 top 175 bottom. When starting out I learned that from a video said it help the rosin seek coolness and not cook it as it sits there flowing as the rest is pressed out.

Maybe try one at 200f just for science see what happens. Maybe the flavor is best there. Get best of both worlds I did that with one batch got like 14% back flower rosin. Auto.

On large scale like 8oz to 1.5 ibs Id have a more commercial attitude just try to get more yield than quality. After recently I dont overthink, its an inferior product. Still good to me but ya.

Id adjust to make it easier to collect. I use chottle it does good job keeping it together even if it blows out. Sleevs are super cheap do 2.2 pounds one 20$ roll. Rosineer.

I just throw away the pucks Ive built an understanding of what Im doing. If theres no oil coming from it to dab nothing to eat. Maybe smoke if you have super low tolerence and wouldnt even do that.

I heard you can get a decent return soaking all the bags in isopropil and do like a qwiso or whatever its called but may still have contaminants on too of that.

qwiso and the like never apealed to me other than RSO and that would be to give to relatives that love rso. But yea like I told my room mates who wonderr why I toss, simply get too much contaminants trying get whats left.

Pressure I just do 600psi the press club psi calculator does the math. I found its enough to flatten pucks thin still blow out and have a ring around pucks so it got everything out the rest is trash.

Can just pull even more junk with it ive tried you get super large rings the rosin almost black. Tasteless. I got that extra 2% alright but at what cost.

Using bags itll quickly make it almost $10 a gram lol. edit ok more like 60$ a harvest so like 3.50$ a g instead of 2.8$

Oh ok I see what I was thinkin, I was doing 3.5gs to avoid blow outs which would be stressful since “purity” is what Im going for but your end product is still inferior 3.87$ a g so extra dollar a g.

Itll be $100 in bags. Not worth it that put me in el cheapo mode. I still dont regret it its good flower rosin. Just cheaper get waay more out of it.

It does help to swipe the kief puck or flower rosin puck on a corner of desk on the parchment. Ive salvaged a dab or two that way. Mostly with drysift pucks. Always repress incase you get up to an extra half gram.

Or way more like I seen on youtube.

Swiping pucks are more effective second press for some reason. It wants to stick and stay on puck second press.

Sorry to ramble might as well make a conclusion, those pucks I wouldnt even use for edibles. I had the worst stomach burns never had before in general. It was the edibles.

I did coffee grind it but I found its not hard to get impurities in it from too much weed. Get quezy stomach. Good god hopefully when i gave those out no one got that and was too shy to tell me.

Even using 10gs trim no grinding straight through cheese cloth has settilments. Its great no queez no burns its quality lecithin canna butter. Loaded with hash.

Trying to crockpot a half pound or pound and make super dark green oil just naw. Using 10gs of that for edibles, no thanks. All the goods gone.
