Hell no LOL!... I did a 3 and a half month veg on her, and then almost 4 months flower.... baffled me why she took so long to finish.
I was just thinking of this. Was it a strain you've grown before? And so what like 16 weeks? This Pura Vida I'm growing is growing a little slower than last time. I think I chopped the last one at like day 72. No way this one's gonna be that far along in another 2 weeks. It's a clone too, so it's not a genotype thing. I did top the shit outta it though since it was crammed in a mini tent for so long.

Do you remember the original subject of this thread.....ya know....before the cooking, cat, dog, and whatever post....about five pages back?

Do you remember the original title to this thread? "Defending HPS in a LED world"?

Often that "LED world" thought I was attacking LED's in defense of HPS's. This is another example of "if you're not with me....you're against me" attitude that seems to guide too many people these days.

I'm not attacking anyone, or LED's. I've said before, more than once that I've seen pictures of amazing grows under LED's....especially the newer lights. Honestly if I had $2-$3K to upgrade and not really piss off the wife, I would strongly consider making the change. It's not fun working in 90+ degree grow rooms or listening to the wife bitch every time she opens up the utility bill.

Not fun at all.

But I often feel that HID's are overlooked when potential new growers consider this hobby.....and are on a budget (who isn't these days?) and I wanted to make the case for HPS's as an affordable alternative to the pricey LED's that are good enough to match HPS's performance. No-one really talks about this lighting anymore on these forums....or at least from what I can see. HID's are pretty bullet-proof, have decades of proven superior grows, and running one or two 600w lights won't break the bank or spike your electric bill.....all that much.

I am thankful that I never succumed to the pressures to buy the LED de jur all these years as I truly think I would have been disappointed compared to the results I constantly get going with the old fashion HID's. Are the new LED's as good as HPS's? I don't know.....maybe.....probably....but it will cost you to get to where I've been for over 10 years. If you have the financial means to get good LED's then God bless you....you should. If you don't....um....ahem.....HPS's are a good choice.

How do you manage to grow quality flower in 90 degree grow rooms? Also, if you've been growing for over 10 years, how haven't you haven't made enough to invest into a few LED fixtures?

seems like you're defending something no one is attacking... that's why your thread moved on to bigger and better things.

edit: see highlighted above, sounds like you're making a perfect case for purchasing LEDs in favor of HPS

Not everyone that grows sells weed. I've been growing for over 40 years, have plenty of money, and no plans on replacing my HID with LED's. I grow quality flower using HID lighting.

Looking good. I was going to ask where they were going to but I see you have a gate there.

That reminds me that I need to get started on my outdoor kitchen I put on hold because lumber prices were just insane awhile back because of covid/supply chain issues. They seem to have come down significantly since then so it's time to finalize the plans, make a list, prepare the site, purchase the materials, and get started.

Many of us started growing after quality LEDs had been on the market for a few years, so there's no pre-conceived biases, but it seems like the long-term benefits of LED outweigh the initial cost of getting onboard, especially now that LEDs get cheaper and cheaper. So, unless you need the extra heat, I can't see any real advantages, and higher costs in the long run.

Sure, HIDs grow fine herb. Just saying if your grow room is 90 degrees then HID might not be the best option. It was mentioned having $2-$3K to upgrade to LED. That's going to grow a decent amount of weed for one person. About 2000W of high quality LED lighting like 2x Timber Fatty VS. Maybe he gives most of it away.

I grow more weed than I need with a 600 watt HID. I can run it 9 months out of the year without any heat issues. The other 3 months I can grow an outdoor crop using the sun.

I don't really want to beat this dead horse issue but there are examples where it doesn't really make any sense to buy an LED light to replace an existing HID. I don't feel like typing them all out as I've done it several times in other threads. I don't see any significant benefit in swapping out my HID for an LED.

I actually edited my post prior to posting. I had some stuff in it about people telling me I was stuck in the past, need to get with the times, etc... But then I realized that I don't care what others think. Their thoughts have nothing to do with me.
I grow with HID also. I think the 1st time I heard us called dinosaurs it triggered me a bit, not anymore. I don't really care either. My 600w HID organic bud shown on the Pictures of ripe buds | Rollitup thread was liked just as much as BK's LED synthetic bud. Plus the four HID growers crushed the 22 LED in the last grow comp on chuckers. ;)

Are there any other pictures in the thread aside from a close up of a small bud? I'm not saying you can't grow or that HID is inferior, but that's a close up of a small bud. Not impressive enough to really brag about. Then you scroll down and BK has a whole room of BFCs. Also he won the picture of the month contest every month on Chuckers with his "LED synthetic bud."

I think I've said all I can say on this subject.

Yes, it's hot in there.....3 out of 12 months. The other 9 months it's not an issue....certainly not an issue to go spend that kind of money to replace the lights that actually help me during the cooler/cold months.

I have done my best to acknowledge the benefits of LED's and have been upfront about the downsides of HID's. I just do not want HPS to be overlooked when someone is trying to figure out which way to go and has a limited budget.

That is all.
