If it PayPal they’re good about getting your money back if it was a a scam. I like paying with PayPal.
Not that good. I ordered an amp and sub on EBay a long time ago and was send a picture of the shit I could get. I got $1000 of the $1075 back, but they made me jump through hoops first. Had to go the the police station, then the USPS, and back to the cops. It was a bitch.

Then they left a kinda negative looking remark on my account. I think it's probably still on there. Just saying, it's not as easy as they're make it sound.

I bought some Inkbird controls from the Inkbird webpage. Got the same feeling seeing Chinese in the pay information. But received the controls in no time. No problem. But it was not a Hotmail account.

I've had to claim a fee things I just told them it was wrong or jacked up they reached out to the seller and 4 days later after the seller wouldn't resolve it they refunded me the full amount. I ordered something not long ago it was a fee months of nothing. Emailed PayPal sent the emails showing I attempted to get them to give me something. They refunded me and the stuff came 3 weeks later and was told to keep it.sorry you've had such shitty luck but I love it.

I just ordered the new light for the set up off of the Spuder Farmer website, and I used PayPal. It's not like I insisted on PayPal It's just that was the websites set mode of payment. However, the PayPal looked super sketchy after giving a close look(of course after already paying).

Any thoughts? I know this site is more for the actual growing tips but I didn't really know where else to go ther than reddit.
I ordered lights from a company based in Canada that imports parts from China and assembles them there and it was a very similar situation with the PayPal and whatnot. Get tracking numbers, if they can't or won't provide them then you can make the choice whether you want to wait or dispute the payment through PayPal.

I didn't buy from Spider Farmer but that e-mail should be legit, many companies have a single paypal account for all their websites domains.
I bought from Mars Hydro and the paypal e-mail was also Chinese.
I also bought games from CDKeys and the paypal was Omnyex E-Commerce or something like that.
While looking at my paypal activity, only few companies have the original name in the address, like Steam or Ebay. All the others you have to click on it to check the seller because it's something different.

Why wouldn’t payments to Spider Farmer not use their own email? A Hotmail account smells damned fishy to me.
This isn't too unusual for small companies. They can be on shared servers with dozens or even hundreds of other sites. One spams and they all get black listed. Something like hotmail or google will simply just always work. No one is going to black list them. I keep a google account for this one reason. I only use it if I know someone is having trouble with my email.

They may have set that up before they were even a company with a domain name too. So, yeah, it might seem off but there are legit reasons to do it this way.
