You mistakenly bought the latest 288V2 boards instead of the old 304`s.

No problem. I was wondering if you found a new way to run the 304 boards haha I was gonna be excited. Hopefully you get everything worked out. I am running the 4000k v2 boards and they rock.

I'm also running 2 of them...granted, I thought they were the 304's...lol.
I am loving them too.

So...what should I do? What I'm planning will not accommodate each board drawing 230 or 240 watts. Should I go read up on wiring them in parallel or should I just chalk this one up as a fuck up and not use the 304's at all and replace with the v2 boards?

Well first I would contact HLG and tell them what happened. They are very understandable and they could possibly help you out, or steer you in the right direction. If they are not able to do that. I would go from there. I know that's more time, which sucks.
the QB v2's only draw a max I think of 130w so

I currently have 2x288 boards (max 480 watts) with 3000k lm561c diodes and have been vegging for about 3 weeks. I've placed it about 2 and a half feet above the plant and run it at 80 watts as anything more tends to get it droopy.

My question is, would purchasing a 5000k board solely for vegging be worth it? I already have the heatsink and driver which makes up a bulk of the cost, so I figured if I just unscrewed the 3000k board and plonked in a 5000k, my vegging plant might go faster. Has anyone experienced an appreciably different growth rate in veg with 5000k/4000k vs 3000k?

Ahh ok. I'd guess the markings looked odd to me because Samsung makes their boards for them now. The 304 looks different from mine but the same as on the webpage, sorry for the mistake

I already emailed HLG but since it's after hours on a Friday and Monday is a holiday, I don't expect a response for like 4 days...so I came to you...the experts.
WTF...now I don't even know what I have and I'm basing all of my plans around this.

I didn't use Amazon or any other vendor.

These purchases were all within the last 30 days or so, roughly. I have 6 boards in my possession with 2 more in the mail.

When you run them in parallel, you divide the amperage by the number of boards, with 2 QB 304 in parallel, they would be running at 1.050 amps giving you about 115 watts per board. I'm running 4 off the same driver for about 55 watts per board.
With the QB 288 you can run 2 in series on that driver, each board will run at about 105 watts each. more than 2 QB 288 in series will put you over the voltage limit.

That's good to know...thank you. If HLG won't let me exchange, then at least I still have options. Hopefully they will tho.

I do have a quick question: They are only offering the 288V2's in 4000K and 3000K. Is this correct or are they just out of stock on the others?

don't quote me but, i believe they are only in 3000k and 400k right now. May see other color temps in the future. I like the 4000k baords. If you look at the color charts, the 4000k has more blue, but also has just about as much red as a 3000k. Best of both IMO.

OK...if this is the case, then I will stay weighted with the 4000's. Been running 2 of them for a few weeks now and frankly, they are amazing. Brought one 3000 on last night just for some mix. Not as pleasant on the eyes as the 4000.

i noticed this too... obviously after the 3000k was in my posession. i kept staring at the charts trying to figure out how the marginal increase in red made 3000k a better choice for veg and flower as HLG recommends when the 4000k has such a huge boost in the blue range.

in my uneducated opinion, i would think a plant vegged larger thanks to the increased blue in 4000k would more than make up for the sliver of reduced red in flower.

could someone break it down for me? can 3000k produce stickier buds or something?

maybe HLG just gets better profit margins on the 3000k?

Plants vegged under blue light seem to grow more leaf but stay shorter. I use mostly 3500k and 4000k and have been having good grows. Like all things, some strains like them better than other but so far, the differences between my 3000k and the 4000k has been negligible. Nodes are tighter under 4000k so with pure Indicas I'd run them raised up higher to get a little stretch. Bud production is fairly equal.

I think Sativas, and Sativa leaning Hybrids like more red and are likely to grow a bit larger under 3000k. Its really about learning your plants. I've had good success with 3000k QB304 also. Between 3000k and 4000k I imagine in some instances you may see a 5% or a bit more height under 3000k. Looking over many COB grows under various spectrum, I'd say Sativa hybrids like 3000k better, Indica Hybrids will do well slightly better with 3500 - 4000k. They sell the various spectrum because that's what the RIU community asked them for! Cost to HLG is pretty much the same.
