Does your dog like fresh pot leaves?

My golden retriever has recently become convinced that I am feeding the cat something in the growroom. He becomes insanely jealous (which is kinda funny in a GR) when the cat follows me in.

Mine loves ABV and I thought he was going to die. He knocked over several grams of spent vape weed last month, and before I could get the vac he had ate it. About an hour or so my wife came in the house screaming that the dog was having a seizure. BTW This was the worst experience in my entire life with marijuana. He was very ill and shaking, could not walk or even stand up. He spent about two days in my bed shaking in my arms. I learned a very valuable lesson. Keep the pets away! Fun is fun, but that was not fun. Be careful! Kinda dumb to get busted for playing with your pet. The weed may not be toxic, but accidents are.
Hey man first off Im sorry to hear what happened. Been there done that(on Xmas eve) and its not cool.

I found an article today claiming that any part of the plant can be toxic to dogs, whether it be directly ingested or inhaled. Of course we've all seen people smoke their pets up with no ill-effects(except sleeping and eating IME), so its safe to say that at least that point is false. I plan to make a thread about the article here in a bit, but i figured id do some searching first to make sure something doesn't already exist like that. Which is what brings me here, so i do apologize for being so late.

My question to you though, did you ever have he or she examined by a vet to determine what the exact cause of the seizure was? Is ingesting buds, vaped or not, toxic whereas leaves, stems, and seeds are not? Could it be possible that some pets(including yours) have a certain condition which reacts poorly with what ever was left in that vaped weed of yours? Because we all know vaped weed is vaped FOR its THC, so IMO its unlikely such low levels of THC were the cause...

Personally I am very interested in the medicinal use of cannabis is pets, as mine is getting older and now suffers from cataracts, arthritis, hearing loss. Typical stuff, but if I can make my little buddy happier I'll do what ever it takes to do so. I am a strong believer in CBD and I think its effectiveness in pets has not been explored enough yet.

So begins the journey...

Hope to hear back from you brother,

Crispy

In the correct dosage I believe MJ can be beneficial to sick pets. The problem is getting the dosage right. Go just a little too far and they sure do not benefit. Have spoken with numerous vets on this and on the record they all say it is bad. Off the record, they say it hasn't been researched enough and that is really the problem with them recommending it.

We had a dog that we just put down last week with a chronic condition - collapsing trachea. She was all of 10 pounds and it was hard to slice off a piece of hash oil small enough for her, like maybe 1/5 the size of grain of rice. At this dosage she did very well and could control her gag reflex and sleep peacefully. Later found a cocktail of steroids and opiates that worked better for her, but we were in a hospice type scenario, just controlling her decline.

Totally agree that the high CBD strains are probably where it is at for medical pet usage. Hope some real research can someday be done when our fucked up government gets out of the way.

I got two dogs one doesn't much on leaves the other one likes to munch on the leaves but once just left me the stems of a autoskunk that was flowering outdoors in my garden.

It's to my understanding that dogs instinctively know which plants to eat when they are not feeling well.

If you check www.cannabisinternational.org. You'll read that fresh THC, called THC-a isn't psychoactive, it's until you dry or burn that it converts to THC-delta9 which is the one that us potheads love so much. So if your dog eats cannabis leaves he's probably medicating himself and from time to time having a blast.
