You not working your roots hard enough. They are lazy and pampered, they are getting all the water and nutes in their cozy little net pot. But like the grasshopper, come fall there will not be enough roots to uptake the nutes to give you those buf buds you desire.

Lower your water level, make those bitches work for their food and water.

That's what I'm gonna do now that I have a root in the water again.

I got my fan and filter setup this morning. It is alot quieter than I thought it would be. I am very glad that I bought a speed controller to go with it too. I have it running about 3/4 full and I will turn it full speed as needed. I have my cab door completely shut today and it was 77 in the cab and 82 outside so I am happy with that. My roots are starting to look great, better than they have the entire grow. They are getting long and white, the way they are supposed to be. I have been debating and wanting to flip the lights, but I think it would be best to give them another week to give the roots a little time to grow. I'll take some pics of them and post tomo. :leaf:

BluBerry, I am most definitely interested I believe in learning and most times it's from a mistake of sorts one of my own or others. So anything I can share that may or may not be useful I offer freely. It's good hearing about your roots the look good in the photos those will drop I also believe your right about the water level Like bonzi said let em look for it I like yo to fill mine to the bottom of the net pot then let it drink for a couple 3 days before i add water, well water is good and also good to know your ph is stable, with the ph^v i have shitwater here so I use distilled. I barely check ph anymore it's always 6 even after adding food (jack's classic+bigbud) about once a week i drain all and start over fresh, 2 days just water the i top off with jack's mix and after about 3 days just distilled w/bigbud. works nicely so far but ya here are a few pics I know dough ain't a prob but if all is chinese made then why spend more than you have to?

hope they show... the first three are the roots some bubbles and the stone and what it's feeding, the other two is the one plant that had the brown slime I took it out of there and went over to the shower and put the handheld on half massage and washed those bitches out!! then washed out the can took a pair of scissors and cut the roots off and left about two inches hanging out of the bottom, and now two weeks later the new ones came saw kicked ass. (no more superthrive in hydroanything for me) that can is the one with the visine bottle "airstone" ummm just lost my train of thought bbl dude they will stretch!!

These roots have really exploded in the past couple days. I have not top fed in about a week or added any water to the rez. Water level has dropped but I am gonna let it get a little lower. The fan and filter seem to be working great on keeping the smell out and the temps down.

Are those roots? Lol! Blu I'm happy to see everything working for you. I have to get used to seeing roots in your journal now. When are you planing on switching to flower? Week or two?

Very nice man!!! looks like you've got em lined out, I was thinking that top feeding might be one cause of lazy roots. and it looks like you have more than enough bubble action, remember it's not the bubbles injecting O2 into the water but the rippling effect that oxygenates the water. The breaking of the surface tension. you got gooduns there MMmm Hhmm. Oh yeah btw apologies for my pics in your journal, you want me to remove?

Day 1 of 12/12
Lol, Yes those are roots Mel! Bout damn time. I kinda changed my mind spur of the moment and went with my initial flowering day. I was sitting there yesterday after this site went down once again. I decided to get the show on the road and I changed out the nutes and flipped the lights last night at 7pm. So they will be on from 7am- 7pm. Another week would have been great but I think everything will be fine.
Thanks Hobart! Your pics are fine, no need to remove them. On second thought, get that shit out of here. Lol, I'm jk. They look nice!!

happy first day of flowering!!!!! Can't wait to see that screen full of buds and hopefully you'll have 3 gurls out of 3

Thanks! I'm excited to find out if they are girls. Hopefully within a week I will know something. My concern is that since I have alot of smaller shoots with one and two sets of leaves on each. Once they start stretching I hope they pack on some bud height and not stem height. I'm assuming I will continue to tuck and pull from hole to hole until the stretch stops. I just don't want alot of 3 inch tall buds I guess is what I'm trying to say. I have been bending the stem so that the side shoots will grow up so now I will switch and not try to grow new shoots but rather try and let the shoots pack on size. Thats my plan anyways.

1140 PPM
pH is unknown still
cab temp 76
rez temp 68

Realized this morning that I forgot to change out the bulb when I switched to 12/12. So I have been flowering for 2 days with the MH. I'm sure they didn't notice anything different. It's switched out now. GAME ON!!
I dropped my temp/hum meter in the rez the other day and now the humidity has been stuck on 20%. And still no pH meter so that is still unknown. 1150 PPM

Oh YEaahhhh!! vedy nice!! hps baby!! I vegged mine for about a week under 400wmh then one day I was bored and switched to 400whps and wow so much brighter. I finished veg and kept it there. I doubt I'll go back to mh at all. I can't wait to see what the screen'll do for ya man. I'm gonna be pulling that big one in the pic soon, got two silly poison dworks from a pal that will be going under the hps treatment soon along with everything else in there

Yes the HPS is brighter and makes it a little different looking in there. Blinding! You can veg with a HPS as well as a MH but the MH is actually gonna work out better for ya during the veg cycle than the HPS will. It will give you a shorter stockier plants with tighter nodes than the HPS will. Do a side by side grow with HPS and MH one time and compare the results. I have never done it but I read alot when I want to know something and thats what I read. I'm not gonna let the screen fill out completely. I'm leaving the space over my peep hole (the chunk I have cut out to add water and nutes). I'll leave that open so I can still manage things under the lid. The Extrema takes up the whole front side of the screen. It has had little things on it since the beginning of the grow that at times looked like a ball and others looked like it was where the pistil comes from. If it is male then that is alot of open space I will have in the screen.
Positive Thinking. All Females, All Females!
I tried taking some pics but they didn't turn out well under the HPS.

yes, positive thinking! Welp you'll definitely know in a week weather or not they're ladies. yeah i was thinking about trying one of those 430w mixed bulbs and see if there is a difference. I can tell you that before I used the hid's I vegged for two months under some t5's very very bright t5's made for veg. and they didn't really beef up until i placed them under the hid. I don't really get it, but i did realize that the lumen output of the hid is glorious compared to anything else. but as for the mh maybe i should try to veg the same amount of plants under say 600w or 1k next time around, I have some strains that have short inter-nodal lengths and some that are farther apart, all plants raised under the same lighting and same age. (some were transplanted in the pearlite two into dwc, and four into soil. All started in sphagnum) so I have a tendency to believe that that spacing is also dictated by its dna. also the light's height can affect the "stretch" of a plant. I know alot of people say 20" or so above the plants and if your hand gets hot then raise it. I dig all that I do I'm the biggest fan of common sense ya know? but I also run a fan to keep those tops cool and keep my light about 2" away from em and I don't cook anything. but yeah maybe ill try some bigger mh's from the get go this coming round.

I have a fan blowing over top of them. My light is 20" above the screen. I may have to raise it but I think I should be alright with it where it is. I can touch the glass casing and its not hot at all so I could prob get the light right on top of them if I needed to. I would love for them to get that tall but I seriously doubt that they will. Aircooled HIDs are the way to go as far as anything that I have tried.

Well I'm not 100% sure but I have a strong feeling that Extrema is a male. I see something that looks like a seed, but it has been on the Extrema since the beginning of growth. It's not on the other 2 plants. It seems to be getting a little bigger. It's still only one so I'm gonna give it another couple days and see if they multiply and have 3-4 seeds at each spot. It has been my thoughts from the get go, cuz the males are usually taller, prettier, bigger and show sign of sex first. If these other two are females then that will be alright, but I do not think that my yield or my bud sizes are gonna be anything like I wanted. I'll fuck around and get 7 grams total yield probably. If Extrema is a confirmed male like I'm thinking, I will probably have some lost interest in this grow. I'll finish it out but it will probably be some bullshit. Cuz the El Mons will prob have small buds on them. Oh well. It is what it is. Maybe Extrema will change its mind and decide to be a female. Enough of my morning bitching!

Sorry to hear that. See if you can talk him in to a sex change lol!
Don't loose interest if it turns out to be a male. If it is that'll give you time to pay more attention to the other two.
Got any pics?

:leaf:I doubt I will lose interest. I was just frustrated. I have always had an interest in growing and plants, but the yield I wanted will be greatly reduced. I just checked and I'm pretty sure that both of the El Mons are females (as I see small hairs on them) and the Extrema has one single ball shaped deal on a few of the branches, so I'm thinking male. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Another day or so should tell me for sure. The El Mons were my free seeds and I purchased the Extrema seeds. I started out with 2 Extrema and the one died, so I was really hoping for this female. Oh well. I still have some Extrema seeds left for another time. I don't think the screen will fill out as nicely now but oh well. I should still get some good quality smoke and gain alot of experience and knowledge from all of you that I will put into future use. If I could get a QP off of the two El Mons I would be happy. I think that seems reasonable..
We shall see!! :weed:

My pics don't show up well under the HPS so I'll have to mess with the camera a little and see what I can figure out.
