I think Elon's problem fundamentally, is he is swimming against the tide of history, both politically and culturally and is thrashing about like a drowning man to avoid getting swept out to sea. There is a vacuum in the social media space for a Twitter clone and someone will quickly fill it and use his ex-employees to do it. From all reports this is not a complex website and if someone was to do clone, they could avoid many of the fundamental mistakes Twitter made. Users can cross post to twitter and celebrities and corporations could bring in users. The thing about social media is it's easy to migrate from one platform to another with a link provided in a tweet. I expect Musk will keep twitter alive, but its wings have been clipped and it might be having serious technical troubles for a while.
If Twitter is full of bots, and magats, decent people will leave it like they left the republican party, what will remain will cause a lot of trouble for Elon as it descends into the parlor with no ad revenue. Moderation and administration are required on social media platforms, we prove that here!
It's not self-driving Elon!
