I have read about Elon slashing costs through automation and such and he appears to be going for the Model T of EVs cheap and aimed as an economical second and commuter vehicle that does not need changes to the owner's house to charge overnight. Elon is greedier than he is vain, but it is an epic internal struggle! Elon trashed his rep with the tech savvy early adopters, so now is going for the middle-class soccer mom types and pragmatists. The Model "E"!

A guy in Norway blew his up on YouTube. There are hazards in dealing with the greediest man alive, best not to buy from him.

Most EVs are gonna have third party after market battery packs or rebuilt packs eventually, there are already some available online that are much cheaper and better than the original. Sodium cells might last 20 to 40 years and will outlive the EV several times over in a few years.
