Enough light?

LoL arent we all supposed to be stoners? what happens to the world when even stoners can't get along? anyways Newcflgrower. i also use cfl's, my house wiring is old and blows the circuit breaker if i plug to many things in. Now im not sure if this is true but i read something from an energy star survey that showed a timeline of cfl efficiency. the graph as of 2007 said the average for cfls was 60 lumens per watt. 58-61 being the range. I personally use 2x125 watt cfls, 12x32w grow cfl's (they are called aggrosuns.) for somewhere around 37,406 lumens. I also have a 240w blackstar led to increase par lighting. The first trick to cfls is short vegetation periods bc cfls do not have the penetration for large plants, but just bc you dont get a full veg doesnt mean you wont get a full yield because... The second trick to cfls is position of the lights. If you are a cfl grower then you are in your grow room adjusting lights everyday to keep them 4-6 inches from plants at all times. with correct positioning you will waste very little light, and thats where we cfl growers succeed in larger yeilds with less power consumption, and less space needed. a fan blowing at an upward angle in the direction of the cfls will help you get the cfls just that much closer. also its ok to burn your leaf tips alittle, as long as you dont burn the flowers or the new growth. NEVER EVER burn the flowers or the new growth. but ill let the occasional fan leaf get just a bit to close just to keep the lights as close as possible so that i use all the light i can on my girls. hope i didnt ramble to bad. msg me if you have any more questions. oh yeah my lst bit of advice, if you are going to use cfls get an led atleast a 90w gives you the photosynthetic active radiation and penetration you really want. plus the led makes your girls turn a crazy vibrant green.

Awesome post! "Keep your CFL's close....but your CFL's closer". LOL!

That shit is real.

I am a first time grower and I just ordered a 125 watt cfl with reflector and I already have 4 26 watt lights would this be enough light for four plants in a 3×4 room
I have a very similar sized room and with a 400W MH/HPS system I am able to get ~4oz per plant or so at a height of 3-4'.

All things being equal, I would think your system should be able to get 4oz * (225w [wattage of your system] / 400w [wattage of my system]) = 2.25oz/plant

This also assumes that CFL has the same efficiency as MH which I'm not sure is true as well as a lot of other variables being the same...

Anyone want to tell me where I might be wrong in this thinking?
