haha thats funny, i have been doing that for about 4 years, was trimming and just had random buds all over the place and went to pick on up and it had been setting out behind the box for a good 4 or 5 hours and it was smokeable. no jar or anything just setting out. it was a pretty small uig but ever since then i use that method to taste test when i think they are getting ripe so i can harvest when im perfectly satified.
i use to dry like that too but I noticed that when you do you get less flavor you still get the high though but the point of the jars if to have a flavorable sample when you fast cure. my method now to test is only do it on a nug that has been hung and dried in the dark for about a week and take some small nuggets and fast cure in a small hair. burp it once or twice and leave it behind the xbox for 2-3 days. you will surely have a worthy smoke to sample have fun!

Yea, i'm still debating how I should dry and cure mine. After my first grow, i have 1 plant that didn't produce much. But i've been told about, read about, and have seen various methods for drying and curing. I've got a glass jar that should work well for the curing. But it's the drying i'm curious about. Should I hang in on strings in a cardboard box, a paper bag, or just in the cool dry air?
Either way, i'll have to decide in the next couple weeks....one way or the other.

But thats what we call one of those GOOD problems ;-) :-Pbongsmilie:eyesmoke::bigjoint:

When I first started growing, I'd simply hang my harvest on a clothes hanger and place it in the next room (cool) with a fan lightly stirring air around the buds. Now I dry inside a large plastic tub w/top...4 small wire running parallel attached to each end or side so buds will hang upside down......a piece of screen attached for a "cot" type layer for popcorns.....One of my dry=bins has 2 80mm pc fans pulling air from holes drilled in the other end....the other has a 120mm fan pulling with well placed intake holes....both are exhausted into my tent where a carbon scrubber runs full time. These dry boxes are inside an area of appro 16-20% humidity, avg 65f....Slow dry..... 10-12 days for a thicker bud.
Something interesting I found out by accident...accidentally left one of the tubs outside 2 day &over night with freshly chopped buds...it was 10-15 deg....froze the shit out of the buds, turned all of'em purple....freeze dried makes the buds draw up and become hard little nugs but was some very good weed! All my friends ask "got anymore of that purple bud"....unique in color although it's potency was the same as its sister dieselryders.....
Anyway you do it, have a breeze stirring around the buds, cool breeze preferably and you'll be fine.

I agree on the purple part i seem to only get that color when i grow outdoors and let it mature longer than normal, check it out

it turned dankesh looking purple and a higher potency, could be the pheno though. Heres the same strain that had a warmer spot
