shit. i just realized i gave them only half recommended normal houseplant dosage...i put one scoop in a gallon. its supposed to be one scoop per 2 quarts/half gallon. fuck i hope i didn't just make things worse...

now theres almost NOTHING left that i really can do to the cab. the only thing left is an inline fan and thermostat. another 50 to 60 bucks. it will help cool immensely so i can actually seal shut the doors. either way, now that i can't do that until like next week or so, all i have left to do is grow my babies! i hope they don't all die lol...

so heres a question i have been wondering about; can one re-use soil from a previous grow? like when its harvest time, can i shake the root mass or whatever back into the big pot and use it again? is that even possible? that pro mix shit i use is kinda expensive...

i reused my summer grows soil. after i chopped i just left them there, after like 2 months the rest of the stalk just pulled right up and roots remained in the soil. nothing wrong with it i dont believe

lol what?? i don't remember anything from my cousin vinny...lol. and accurate how? hate to say it, but that sn came from waaayyyy back when i built my first computer, and the graphics card i got was a radeon 9700 pro, and DEUS is latin for "god"

anyway seems like the grow is finally moving in the forward direction. I've got growth. the cab ranges from 60 to 81 and humidity from about 28 to 51 percent. gets more humid during the night cycle. LOVE my cab by the way, it seems like it will be perfect especially once the weather warms. or until i get the duct fan and thermostat.

so the soil is still really damp, it will be a lil while until its feeding/watering time. when it does become time, i.e. when the top of the soil is crusty-dry, do i do another feeding cause theres nothing in the soil save the nutes from the last feeding? or do i do a rinse-flush and water until runoff...???

thanks in advance and merry christmas eve! or happy holidays...

*edit*
thegersman, re-read and i get it, the thermostat is dead on balls accurate...lol...its early on a saturday, and i partied hard with my brothers last night lol

Clean looking cab. Sucks about the nute burn. Like others have said 30-10-10 is really strong nutes and a tsp per liter is a ton. When I was using bottled nutes I used a 2-8-4 at a tsp per gallon - of course I used nutes every other watering and not once every two weeks.

Plants look like they are recovering though and the new growth looks good. Keep it up!

just a tip for those cfl lovers out there i use those underneath cabinet kitchen cfl.s that are circle in shape but the cfl bulb is wavy inside it and those give out 3000k lumens each...but they cost about 7 or 8 quid a bulb ...to replace when burnt out eventually
is that 3000k or 3000 lumens? "k" is the kelvin rating (light spectrum)

I'm using 12x23watt-6500k cfls with 4x23watt-2700k cfls. will be adding more 100watt-2700k cfls for flower...thinking 2.

at the present moment: 368 watts total light

there is polysheathing (cheap - 4'x8' board - $10 each) on all interior walls, with a patio of bricks to maintain night cycle heat

THANKS gastanker! I'm lovin it, looks like it might actually eventually work! wana do HID lighting at some point. anyway the burn was either actually physical i.e. from the cfls when they were super young or from a complete and utter lack of nutrients. i have now fed them one time, and the dosage was what you are supposed to feed normal houseplants per two weeks, halved. i used one half teaspoon per 1 gallon, which is closer to 4 liters.

what type/concentration do you use? definitely looking for input as i don't have anything else i can see that i can do or needs to be done to the cab...

i was planning on continuing the proportion i used for the last feeding for the next, as the plants responded pretty well. i will water in a day or two (probably, maybe a lil longer) and then water again before feeding. AGAIN there are no nutes in the soil, if anyone thinks i should feed differently or has any input, id love it!!!

happy holidays everyone! havin a baller christmas so far...my babies...wow. left for a night. the timer died, and i guess the lights stayed on through their brief night, and the cab got up to 102 degrees. that being said...

the runt

and, cause i forgot to document it in the completion pics, the duct for which i will be buying a 4 in inline duct fan and thermostat tomorrow

so. the plants actually are doing really well...at least it seems to me. better, for sure. so was it cause the lights were on all night? would i have seen more growth if they hadnt been?

thanks guys! i just checked on them a lil bit ago and they're like, thriving! its awesome to see...haha i know it got soooo hot in there! if i keep the doors cracked open it vents perfectly and stays at 78 degrees. excited to see how the fan and thermostat keep the cab temps/humidities when its sealed. that thing is really lightproof. thinking about another light fixture in the middle with 4 100 watt 2700k cfls for flowering. or maybe just now. i DID just get a home depot gift card lol. either way I'm AMPED that the lil ones are growing...

any ideas on how much i should feed them next and when i should? water them once and then feed again next water?

they seem to be doing fine on the previous dosage of fertil;izer i would keep at the same strength for another feeding. once the plant gets a bit bigger its going to use more food so up the dosage.

if you want to allow runoff i would just skip the straigh water and let a gooid amount of nutrient water runoff to flush out the old nutes and replace with fresh stuff (not sure if it matters how fresh the nutes are but it will wash the salt buildup out/off the root)

water them when they get dry :) Mj likes to dry out a bit before it is drowned in water again.

just pick up the pot. if it feels really light and dry give em a watering, you dont want the soil to get TOO dry the soil wont absorb the water it will repell it. kinda like a kitchen towel that you try and wipe up a spill with but it just spreads the liquid around the table, have to soak it in water and get it wet again before it will absorb.

lol ok so next time its time to water, feed? keep the same proportion but feed to runoff? how many times do i feed before i do a flush? i will take pics again soon and update...they are GROWING. awesome. i have a few sprouts in the terrarium that are probably ready for transplanting. they are growing as fast it seems like...im excited to see how this works out!

Graphics!

Don't overdo the nutes and don't worry about a flush unless you didn't read the first four words.

Amazin' work you do !!!

I'm not referring to plain watering at your discretion

haha love how u call me 'graphics'

so other than that, your saying (thegersman) that i water normally, like when dry and light, and then keep the nutes on the recommended schedule i.e. feed again in a week or so with as many JUST waterings in between as needed?

what first four words are you talking about? lol sorry I'm a lil slow this morning...

if you feed untill you have runoff you are virtually doing a mini flush and shouldnt ever need to flush them untill 1-2 weeks before chop down then you want them nutes gone so the bud isnt tainted with chemicals.

the problem with straight water in soiless soil is if you feed untill u have runoff you are flushing alot of the available nutrients out of the soil and are going to run into deficiency problems like you had earlier. if you want to water plain water i suggest no runoff but thats up to you, this will give the plants a bit more time to use up the nutes you put in before you feed again, and i know watering till runoff with a nute solution is a waste of nuts but it may be worth the small amounts of nutes you waste in the long run. ultimatly its up to you, you can also water with no runoff for 8 weeks then give a good solid flush with 5x the amount of plain water as pot size (i.e 25gal of water for a 5 gal bucket)

of course this is all preventive and may not be necessary at all, just trying to help you cover all of your angles, ultimatly its up to you and if the plants dont need a flush you dont have to flush them.

confused. ok so i agree about the watering just enough to have no runoff, so the plant can utilize the nutrients i used last feeding. so do i follow the MG instructions as far as feeding every two weeks? and in between just water enough to not get runoff but to saturate the soil? or do i just feed EVERY watering until runoff? I'm not worried about wasting nutes...just want my plants to GROW now! lol...not my day for understanding things apparently...

well you are giving them only 1/4 of what the instructions say to give every 2 weeks so i would throw the 2 week thing out the door. if your feeding/watering 2x a week then do every other. i wouldnt feed more than once a week but thats just me
