First Grow,CFL's With Bagseed--PICS

i looked at the photo, but it gave no information. Usually you can find it on the side of the bulb on the cream colored base. The pictures make it look like 6500k, but when i research online softwhite is 3300k or 2700k which is what you want for flowering, although it would be good to have 1 6700k bulb as well. if you change the picture setting on your camera to flourecent lighting, you can see the colours of the bulb, like i have in some of my pictures on my grow. Walmart normally carry the 150W replacement which is actually 40-42 watts. the replacement number is a joke!.

remember 3-1 is flowering is best, but i mean you can try and do all 2700 K, i jsut think you will get some stretching again bcause you dont have both spectrums.

Ya I think so too. Im going to run to target today and pick up a 150wt. I should only need one right? Ill do (3) 100watts and (1) 150 watt, Sence Im doing 12/12 from seed that should work for the entire grow right?

ya a 40w (150w equivilant) will be fine. just make sure its 6700k

well I didint make it to target today. Will go tomorrow. But I found a 150 watt bulb at lowes but It said 2600 on the front of it. I didint see anything that said 6700??

I didint buy the 150w because I found a HPS bulb that Looked like it would fit in a regular socket. So I bought it....Ya it has to have a ballist whatever the hell that is...So Ill go exchange the HPS bulb for maybe a couple 150w bulbs. But like I said are those the right ones? They say 2600 on the front of them I just went to the lowes site and got a pic of it for you. Is this the right one?

Oh one more question TK. You said Im going to need the 150w for vegging? then the 100watt ones I have for flowering. Sence All Im doing is flowering,like 12/12 from seed. Will I even need the 150watts!?!

no no. that says 2600 lumens! big huge difference. Lumens is how bright the bulb is. 6700k or 2700k is the colour of the bulb. so 6700k bulb means it emits blue light, which is what you need for Veg it says in small printing on the side of the box or the side of the bulb. 2700k emits red light, which is what you need for flowering. rightnow you have all 2700k bulbs, my suggestiong for you was to get 3 6700k bulbs, + 1 2700k bulb for veg. but you said you want to go straight to Flower on 12 and 12, which is fine, but you will want atleast 1 6700k bulb so you still get some blue light for the plant.

an HPS bulb emits the the full colour spectrum, but alot of colour you dont need such as green , yellow and orange. however, they are also the most efficient when it comes to lumens (brightness) vs Watts used. but they are giving you plants alot of colour they dont need specially Yellow and turquoise. that being said they still emit more lumens per watt than a CFL but with a CFL you get to pick your colour. i think eventually CFL will take over the HPS spot, just needs some better technology!

so that 2600 on the front means LUMENS, Brightness, i am using 6 of those 150w as of saturday when i go veg. 4 of which will be 2700k temp (red light, and 2 of which will be 6700k Blue light. trying ot stick with a 3-1 ration but in this case its gonna be a 2-1 ratio until i add some side lights.

so 2700k red (need more for flower), 6700k blue (need more for Veg) the sun in spring time starts out emittin gmore blue , and as fall comes and we get less light it emits more red, which is why all the crops are ready for harvest

Oh wow,My Bulbs are only 1700 Lumens right now. So I need to return all of them? Right?

Alright! DAY #6 Update!

Babies are doing good, alot has gone on the past week! Seeds sprouted,Transplanted,built a fantastic grow box and fixing to get all the lighting under control! Phew!

But all is well, Learning as I go! And a speacial thanks to TK and JB30 on all their help! Thank you guys! : ) and everyone check out their grow journals also, True gardeners!

well you dont have too! just depends on how many plants you are gonna grow. was someone saying that the sun emits 10000 lumens per Ft cube or something. i cant remember. seems to me that most people try for 10000 lumens or more. but i have seen people grow with less. so it really just depends on your preference. i figured out when i flower i will be running 15,600 lumens, but i plan on adding some more side lights, or perhaps an hps as well. ya never know! i dont really want to cut more holes in this grow box until i get a different fan. need an intake and an outtake vent

Ya but whats the least amount of lumens you can have until the plants die?!?

Oh and for you side light problem, You dont have to cut into the side. Stop by wallyworld and/or office depot and get a roll of "foam tape" Its a Very Sticky foam that is sticky on both sides. Will hold some wieght. Just stick your power strip to the side : )

(Thats my idea for my box if I have to add more lights : )

Your bulbs will be good, accept you may want some 6700k in there. i dont know if you can only do it on red light waves, we will see with your next pictures

i would say you need 1 6700k bulb equivilant in Wattage to the other ones.

Hey whats up everyone! I got work pretty early in the morning so Im just going to give a quick update.

I bought two of the 150w 2700k and Im running those with two of the 100watt ones I had before. Plants are looking good. Just wanted to give an update. Will post pics soon!

Thanks you TK : ) I may end up grabbing one if the stems dont thicken up : / But Ima see how it goes with these bulbs : )

Hey Whats up everyone!

Time for Day #7 Update!


Ok,So I bought a couple of the 150watt 2700k CFLs from lowes. I have those on the 3 babies plus 2 100watt, 1,700 lumen CFLs.

Ive been watering 60ml (1/2 cup) Daily,to much??

My plants are also going 12/12 from seed : )

Constant fan blowing day and night, trying to get the stems to thicken up,hopefully that will work.
