Hello people,

I'm a grower from the UK currently into week 4 of flower of my first ever grow. I've currently got 1 Livers and 3 Psychosis, both clone only strains I think, that I got from a good friend, in auto pots and coco, under a 600w HID.

I'm using (or have used) Cannas A&B, Cannazym, Rhizotonic, PlantLife Products (also known as Future Harvest Development) Bud Start, Ton O Bud, Fields of Green, and Carbo Blast. I've got a few other bits and bobs that I've used in foliage sprays or that I'm going to use in the future.

So far I've been through lots of problems (although nearly all in veg), too many nutes, too few nutes, not flushing enough so having to flush again, thinking one of my ballast, bulb or reflector had died when it was just the extension cord, some of which slowed down their growth a bit so they've been vegging for quite a while until I'd got them through the shit and got them healthy again. Ah the joys of learning whilst also being a stoner haha. I also disconnected the auto pots during veg and hand watered so I could get a better understanding on how much they drink.

I managed to get 3 out of 4 cuttings of the livers to root in cups of water, they're vegging now under a 200w cfl and looking good, the largest one has really grown in the last 48 hours. I tried to experiment with the heated propogator and I fried 8 psychosis ones. Oh well, got 6 more psychosis in cups of water, now its just a waiting game. I don't need this many cuttings but I'd like to get myself a mother from each strain, plus when I harvest I may just fill the place with smaller plants so I can get one in before xmas.

Nice lookin plants you've got going. Great use of space, too.

The one thing that I'd say is, unless you're looking for lots of popcorn buds (maybe you really like hash), you can probably trim up a bunch of the lower growth on those babies.... 1/4 to a 1/3 of the way up.... I'd say with those you could go 1/3. My first grow was 9 cheeses crammed in my little tent, similar grow style, and I wish I would have cut more up off the bottom. It'll also make all your buds on top a hell of a lot better off, as they won't be fighting for nutrients. Week 4 is the perfect time to do it, too. Later! :peace:

Thanks for stopping by mate, I appreciate the comments.

If I trim all that growth off will it effect my final yield or will the weight just be sent to the buds higher up?

Yes, exactly, your weight will be sent upwards. Right now your plants are putting a lot into what is sub canopy, and it's not going to yield very much because the light isn't reaching down that far. Matter of fact, it'll all be hash material. Trimming it would make you nuts! If you take all that junk down there off, all the good stuff goes up up up, where it can be used... photosynthesis, my friend! You need the light in order to use the food, right?

When you're doing it tho, don't just trim the shit off your main stalk. Cut up as far as you think you should go on the main stalk, and then cut off all the little shit that is at the base of your branches that looks spindely. Normally I'll cut 1/3 of the way up the main stalk on bushy ones like you've got, and then start attacking those branches, going 1/3 of the way up them, too. At that point you're literally cutting off more of the popcorn that isn't going to yield anything.

Make sure you don't cut too much. If you take too much off, you can stress the plant, and they don't like that.... but that's about at the 50% mark. Check out my journal if you like... I took pictures of my sub canopy my second grow bc I put so much time into trimming it. My yield, with the same number of plants, almost doubled... Granted, I topped them, too, but still... HUGE difference. :peace:

edit: I guess I took pictures of my first grow sub canopy. My second grow canopy looks better, though.

I was thinking about it, although I'd have to put some nails in the walls or something to attach it plus they are kind of supporting each other at the moment.

Nice man, always good to see another UK grower making a fuck you stance to our stupid laws! Liking the plants man, they are looking bushy, healthy and promising- your gonna be a happy chap at the end of this I think!

Thanks mate and cheers for stopping by and having a look, but they havent always looked that healthy, there were times early on they looked real sick, its been a steep learning curve but thankfully I got through it haha. I cant wait for the middle of october to cut them!

Yeah First grows tough, I lost one plant and the yield of my 2nd was like something pathetic like 23gs, I just harvested auto Vertigo and jumped out 57grams,You can only get better man! They look like they certainly pulled through like a dream, I woulda never knew they were sick- what happened? They get exposed to that bloody Zombie Big Brother?

Its all about waiting. U got someone who will keep you right in big bad Don. Fuck, Ive nearly killed plants loads of times.lol They always bounce back. Hardy plant but fuckups early on and throughout your grow do effect yield as one knows.lol Best of luck m8

Thanks for stopping by guys! I had loads of problem, too many nutes, too little, not flushing enough etc, they went quite pale green, lost a fair few leaves and slowed down growing for a little while but I kept them in veg, read a silly amount of stuff on here and got them sorted. Now they're great, a few yellowing leaves at the bottom foliage but I'm guessing thats a combination of lack of light penetration and the bloom boosters. Plus having Don to hit up anytime I need advice was a major advantage too! My girl said he's my Mr Miyagi haha.
