I agree stick with synthetics if that's what you are using

Beneficials break down organic forms of the minerals your plants need and make them available to your plant. If your using organic fertilizers and you kill the beneficials off(say with bleach or H2O2) than your plant will die a slow and painfull death of starvation

If you use synthetics all the nutrients are already broken down, which requires you to be much more carefull about how much you feed your plant or you'll burn it or starve it. It's easy to get the hang of with practice, that's why I recommend vegging as long as you can before flipping to flower

7th node now has eight pointed leaf.

I transplanted my plant to a larger pot today. It went from a one gallon circular pot to a 4 gallon rectangular pot. I also added four more 23W CFLs (2700K) giving me a total output of 18300 Lumens. All of the CFL bulbs are still less than 2 inches away (my Lumen output may be high because my bulbs are so close)..

Since I just transplanted to a larger 4 gallon pot I am going to wait at least until the end of the week before I switch to 12/12.

you mentioned your using a xenon lamp? I didn't think those were so good for growing with as they put out more heat than light. I suppose you may get a slightly more diverse range of light using it however I think swapping it out for another CFL would do more good, unless your having a problem keeping the temperature up.

Looks great, I can't belive how dense she is. I'd expect preflowers in the next week

Just keep those light close, all that light is making her squat which is great, your gunna end up with a big fat ball of bud lol

Yeah I have a xenon lamp for side lighting. I originally started using it for a more diverse spectrum including UV bands (I read that UV bands can increase potency) emitted from xenon. It doesn't actually bring much heat although it is much hotter than CFLs. If I turn it off I have a temp in the low mid 70s. It runs cooler than halogens and xenon I think has more favorable emission lines than halogen bulbs. However it isn't as ideal as CFLs. I may add more CFLs but I will need to buy additional fixtures first. I have bulbs but no fixtures.

It would be great to see some pistils. I am fairly certain she is a female, but conclusive proof would be great!

Haven't watered since the transplant. I'm going to wait for the medium to get nice and dry then I will probably either use 20/20/20 nutes once more or maybe switch to different nutes.

I was hoping to make clones from the 1st node but my first node is still so tiny. I may have to go off of the second node.

Yeah keeping the lights close is really working well. She is 8 inches tall and 14 inches wide. I wonder how much she will stretch with this system?

You could probably take the meristem plus the first node down for a nice clone. Usually I think that would slow growth down significantly but you have a possible definite exception on your hands. It's so thick that doing so would prob help in the grand scheme of things.

With my Kali Mist the first node was a runt node(just made that term up). I tried using UB's topping technique above the second node and it didnt work out so well because the first node was puny and never caught up(I later topped a second time that's why I now have 4 colas not 2).
I would honestly just take a razor blade and nick those two(umm I mean three) nothing shoots off before they waste any more juices.

The nodes above that will be much stronger.

So whats the plan? How are you going to train this plant, or will you just leave it as is?

Personally I think a tripod would be pretty funky

My first node also is a "runt node". I still haven't cut the first node off since it is still slowly growing. I am fairly certain that the first node is large enough now to make 3 clones. I will probably wait another few days before cutting the first node off so I can attempt to make clones from each of the secondary growth branches.

I have been thinking a lot about what to do with this plant and it is a lot tougher decision than I orginally thought. Since this upcoming May is going to be a very busy month for me I think it would be better to start flowering earlier rather than later. If I start flowering soon it should be finished around mid-late April. I am for sure going to be doing some LST and a couple days ago I used some hemp string to train some of the branches.

Since I moved it to a different space last week and have much more vertical space but less horizontal space (20"x20"x72'') I am thinking of either just doing some LST and no topping or doing some LST and also FIM. Do you think FIM would increase my yield compared to just doing LST?

Attached is a picture from RIU user Hobbes. I would ideally like my plant to look like the one on the left and given how my plant is growing I think LST or LST&FIM will be the best choice. Does this sound like a pretty good plan?
