I think the plants pictured are VERY bushy, very stocky, and I dont think they will stretch much.. Keep weaving those branches under before you make the flip, that way the BOTTOM of the screen is filled, before you allow anything to stick out at the top.

When the screen is full (underneath) let them veg a day or two and fill up the screen on the TOP. I say veg 4-5 inches above the top of the screen when its full, and then making the flip. That net is there to space them correctly and help hold them up. If the colas end up 2 feet above the net, so be it...

The reason I say veg until everything is above the net a good distance is because you're going to be trimming everything below the net (or should be, except fan leaves, just lower branches) anyways. You dont want any buds under that net, everything above them!

I would NOT give them 36 hours of darkness, as I've heard some pretty bad horror stories about people getting MASSIVE stretch using this technique. Stick to what is most well-known and used. None of this "theory" stuff.

Once again everyone is entitled to there own opinion, just giving you some things to think about.

Hey Bterz. thanks for the instructions..I want to acomplish just what you described. I am fine with veg for another 2 or even 3 weeks if need be..when you say except the fan leaves..do yo mean that you leave the fans on the bottoms under the net? I thought you took them off too.
 
I just got my power bill and OUCH!!:evil: Not good..I mean about $400 bucks more than it should have been and the lights were only running for two weeks of that bill.
There has to be something else going on..I figured I would be paying an extra 200 for power during 24hrs light period..but judging by that bill it would be an extra $800..I am freaking out. I even called PG&E and had them check my current reading..she said that something must be wrong because it looked like I have used as much as the whole last billing cycle in the last 5 days. I am not sure if I should have my meter tested or what..I am legally doing a med grow..so I am thinking wtf..so I am not hiding anything..although I will probably not volunteer anything either.
My power bill was just $850..fuck..that is more than when I run my ac 24/7..and I haven't run it the last few weeks.
Sorry for running on about this, but shit!! That is nutz!:cuss:
 
ouch ya thats rough doesnt sound right to me either but could be if ure bumpin up to the highest power bill tier too it jumps quick. the growroom we got goin with 4 600ws and a 1000w is like $650 total with the rest of the 4bedroom house.
 
With 3x600w, and a 10,000BTU A/C, my bill jumped from about 50 to 350.

When I say except the fan leaves, I mean just that.

i guess its kinda personal preference when it comes to de-leafing the fan leaves under the net, but if you have a small fan circulating air under the canopy, you should be fine.

The reason i leave the fan leaves is because I figure thats the "FOOD" for the bud. Those are the sugar shacks. All the juice. Why spend all this time creating nice big fan leaves if you're gonna cut them all off.

If it gets CRAZY bushy and you're nervous of PM, I would trim a couple and leave a couple. I've seen good results with skinning them completely bare, but I dont understand the concept other then keeping PM out from underneath the canopy. Deleafing all those fan leaves connected to the branches doesnt seem like it would help.

EDIT: I wrote an entire think on light periods/energy saving and it got deleted. Stupid keyboard. I'll keep it short., I suggest 18/6 or 20/4, not 24/0 (unless under floros) Peak hours = expensive hours. That means you're running through peak hours all day everyday.

When you flip to 12/12 try running 7pm to 7am, avoiding peak hours, any other electricy usage in the house which = lower baseline = cheaper energy consumption.

Ya man we had a couple this summer around $1000 when it was around 110 deg outside and my wife has the thermostat set at like 69 deg...but I wouldn't think I am using the same kws as I was with a 5 ton ac running 24/7..but it looks like I might be close. I am sure it is the teirs that are killing me. It is like 17 cents for under the basline and the top teir is like .44 for the top teir... We have a 4 bed 3000 sq ft house too.

That is great advice..I will definatley do the 7-7 thing if that keeps me away from the peak hrs. I think in the future I will be running 20/4 in the 2000w room. I still need to complete my 3x4 veg room that will have a 400w HID..which will allow me to veg a little longer in there before going to the 2000w .. which will save $ :bigjoint:

Are you talking about the same Chargers that just got beat by denver at home...and the same Raiders that just beat up the Eagles? lol It will depend on what Raider team shows up.. I am a season ticket holder so I was there the first time the Chargers beat us.
I am a die hard fan, but the last 6 years has been rough to be a Raider fan.:wall:

they'll definitely shoot up during the first couple weeks but the stretch usually stops by week 3 and then the plant just focuses on budding. so I'd keep them in veg and fill up the screen for a couple more weeks. give the side shoots time to get even with the rest of the canopy and then I'd switch to 12/12. then you can do some more weaving after you switch to 12/12 but the main focus of scrog growing is an even canopy so just try to make it as even as possible
 
day 18- I cut clones last night and put them in the cloner. They look very perky today..so I must not of messed it up too bad. I dipped in clone gel and slipped them in the disks. I was going to cut more, but I didn't want to take any of the shoots that looked like they would make it to the net. I started 15.

I fed at 5ml per gal A/B, 1 ml pg root excel, .4ml pg drip clean and sprayed 5 ml pg magic green(folar spray). 525 PPM and 5.25 ph ( I brought this down from 5.8 because of the high ph readings in the medium) 5 Gal per pot...

I also worked on a couple plants that were poking threw the screen.

I'll try and post some pics later tonight.

I switched to 20/4 today. I am just about to flip the switch..I am thinking 3 days or so.

I trimmed the bottoms today. I took off only small bud sites and a few decent size shoots that didn't look like they would reach the net. I threw the larger one's in the cloner so that makes 18 total clones. 15 are 3 days older than the others, but they looked so pretty I couldn't bring myself to throw them out. I am growing the current clones for moms and giving some to fellow prop 215 client. I clipped so many though I might just veg 12 of them right threw to the next cycle, which would mean they would be in veg for 9 to 10 though. This might be too long to veg for the space I will have in my veg room.

I gave them a azatrol treatment. There are no signs of bugs, so this will most likely be the last treatment.

I did some bending and weaving to keep the middle buds under the net..I also bent fans to try and keep them from shading bud sites..I don't want to cut any more fans yet if I don't have to.
I was planning on feeding today, but the coco seems to still be moist so I will wait.
Other than that, there is not much to report. :neutral:

Thanks Bro. Do you mean fill it up before I switch? I was planning on switching in a few days..I am not sure the whole screen will be full, but we'll see how they look in a few days..

I am trying to plan for Christmas..I usually have the family here for Christams eve dinner and house guests through the holidays..I was hoping to be done with flower by then, I don't want to have to harvest at that time ..If I flip the switch on Monday it is exactly 8 weeks until my window closes to harvest...guests come a few days later..so basically I would have to do 8 wk or 10 wk of flower..my other option is to veg for two more weeks and then just harvest in Jan. I can't believe I didn't plan this better. The good news is that from the journals I have seen 8 weeks is about right for pk..however most of the grows I have seen have short veg times.
Does the length of veg have any infulence on the flower time?:roll:

veg time shouldnt affect flowering time. but you really should fill up most the screen before you flip to make the scrog really worth while. I feel ya if you're short on time and have to switch a little earlier but like Bterz said, I'd fill the screen a lot more before switching. the results would be more than noticeable if you did so.

Thanks notorious. I here ya..the screen is about at about 70% so we will see where it is in a few days. I agree that I would like it full, so if that means I wait another week or two than so be it.
