First time cfl grow - could use some input/advice

Hey Everyone,

First, I would just like to say that I have been lurking around for a few weeks and I am amazed by the amount of insight on this site.

So, after reading around here I decided to see what I could do with some bagseed we had from a couple of different bags. I have no clue what kind we have as we just started "medicating" about 2 months ago after a 14 year absence from the scene.

I have 2 plants planted roughly 5 days apart. The soil is Hyponex by Scott's. Watered only with distilled water and have been only feed once 2 days ago with MG at 1/4 strength. The lighting is 4x 100 watt equivalent 5000k. I just threw in 2x 30 watt equivalent 2700k that I had laying around.

Plant 1 on the left was planted first followed by plant 2 five days later. From what I can see everything looks ok on my end, just worried about space as these are growing faster than I thought they would. I was on a 24/0 and now am on a 18/6. Due to the size of my cabinet, should I switch to 12/12 now or is it too soon?

Also, If anyone has any opinions on my plants- please chime in.

Thanks.grow 1.jpggrow 2.jpggrow 3.jpggrow 4.jpg

You can change to 12/12 whenever you want? Some fellas will go 12/12 from seed....also, there are other options for height issues, one being training, good luck!
Cheers!

I have been reading up on LST, might start that tomorrow. Seeing as though I have only fed them once with the MG ( if this goes well I will upgrade the nutes etc.on next grow) I was thinking it would be better to let them go a bit longer. This is where I get info overload lol.

Any thoughts on how my plants are looking? They are on day 16 in the cabinet.

Don't LST ur first grow. Put in flower when they are the size of a basketball. First grow keep it simple. Less to worry about or screw up.

Thanks chrishydro - Size of a basketball ? This is a small cabinet (lower kitchen cabinet size) when they are put into flowering wouldn't they then outgrow the case? I agree with the keeping it simple on the first grow- Just don't want to out grow my space.

They are mainly Indicas.
I would have planted them in shorter, fatter pots. Height is going to be a problem.
Pinch out after 4th node (to give 8 branches each) and LST. When each plant is about 15" across, switch to 12/12.
Maybe look at scrogging.

Plants look good man, remember its WEED, if its growing, its good lol. But, your color is nice, good and bushy, your doing just fine, breath relax and enjoy the beautiful creation that you and mother nature have worked so hard for lol that and just wait till you flower and it gets really fun.

Yes and finally everybody telling you not to worry about space but no one has asked what are your dimensions so as
Herbal asked^^^
How much space are you working with. Because they do double-even triple their size when flowered. What are our temps as well.
Plant looks really healthy do so far so good

I am also subbed happy growing and good luck!!!

cabinet size is only roughly 22d x 24 high. Temps stay pretty consistent at about 81 degrees. Humidity is always around 41%. Plants really shot up over the past couple of days and are about 2 inches from the lights. The smell damn near knocked me out when I came home the other day lol.

I am thinking about moving my grow into a spare bedroom closet and going with a ONA bucket to control the smell. The closet is 44w x 79 h x 24d so this might be a better option. The closet does not have a door at the moment, so I am thinking about a cheap vinyl folding door. Currently I have 2 small 4 inch fans - one for intake and one for exhaust. Hopefully they will work in the closet. I also have a 24inch tower fan I can throw in there to move air around. I want to keep the cost down as it is my first grow and don't want to go too crazy.

Well, you've got your head in the game, so you might as well play it out.
Good to always have a fallback, and the extra fans were always a savior to me.

Waiting for new pics :) (my little project is suffering technical issues :()

Ok, here is the latest update:

New closet seems to be working great- Plants have really shot up- how much longer should I led these veg for? Also, any thoughts on the plant on the right ( I should have shut the fan off for the pics, they are not this droopy as they look) - has a lot more leafs than the other. Lastly - will these pots be sufficient all the way through flowering or should I transplant them into another size?

Thanks for any advice guys!

P.S. - My first clone seems to be holding it's own ! very exciting times.closet 1.jpgcloset 3.jpgclosset 2.jpg
