i usually hit the Channel Islands for halibut and White Sea bass. Used to go out of Mexico for Yellowtale, Yellowfin, and Dorado. Get my "fresh fix" via the Kern River (annual camping trip). Looking forward to getting out to the islands soon.

It's been said countless times and will be said countless more;

Ice cold beers, amazing weather, and they were actually biting today. Found a killer place with a bunch of shade, slow spots and overhangs, and set up shop. I was getting hits all morning on blue and silver, gold and black mepps, and pulled in a couple tossers, but my first cast with the silver/white vibrax nailed this little 3lb rainbow. He put up a pretty good fight.

Right on dude!! Ever fish beneath comanche/hatchery? I can't remember the season out there but we used to fish that part of the moke for the steelies and bows. Great place to chill on a hot day too.

What I wouldn't give to launch out of glory hole right now though. Wish I still had my boats:-( but I'm sure the kokes are so off the hook at melones right now. We would usually get into some great rainbows and browns(deeper) there too. You ever bank fish off glory hole point?

Must of been 10-12 years ago the last time I hit Camanche. It was usually packed to the brim with assholes whenever I felt like going. But, New Melones is always an awesome time. We went night-fishing there last season, and I was blown away. Minnows and jigs. Cutthroats, Rainbows, Kokanee, Largemouth, Catfish - just raking them in. I've never casted from the shore, but I'm on kind of a kick this year, so, maybe will give it a try here soon.

Next spot on my list is Salt Springs Resevoir. Gonna kayak to the back, and camp out for a week. Hike my way 5 miles up to Blue Hole. Absolutely gorgeous spot that almost no one knows about, full of browns and bows. Next weekend, I'm stoked.

Uhhhh..... Pinny...... That's right in my backyard. Think we're gonna have to smoke and fish one of these days.
