Forget the fancy- how ghetto can I be and still reap some bud?

I've read a lot about growing. The different pricey lights, the different bulbs and watts for said lights, the set ups, the times ect. I'm not that fancy. I'm not trying to grow like pounds and pounds of bud, I only want to grow maybe 4 or 5 personal plants. So if I bought some fem dank ass seeds to start myself off with, sprouted them, stuck them in a pot with some good soil, and cared for them obviously keeping with time and putting up some regular kind of house hold lights in a closet and fed them nutes, would it work? Would I be able to harvest a decent amount of good bud?

Hey, I'm not sure what you meen by regular household lights, but if your talking incandescent then I would say no, they will turn out very stretched out, and produce very little if any buds. If your talking compact flourecent then its definitely possible, ive done a complete grow with these. I would say no less then 3 bulbs per plant, but the more the better. I never got huge buds like this but I have got some very good tasty buds.

You can do it on about $200. You still need basic stuff like ventilation fans and pH monitoring equipment.
Here's a Kandy Kush x Skunk bud I pulled from a small cabinet with about $200 in crap using mostly day light cfl bulbs. Yeild was about 2.5 ounces from 5 plants.

if it helps my grow is fairly ghetto. i have a decent hps light but i grow in a closet with nothing but a fan system to maintain temps. i mean regular table and pedestal fans, even to vent the light. without air conditioning i do not have the luxury of being able to lower temps and my plants suffer in the summer. winter is my jackpot time because raising the temps is a lot easier. minus the light i spent about 60 bucks on my closet setup initially and updated along the way. the hps is a recent upgrade. you get out what you put in. but yes, even ghetto setups can "work" fine. your use of the term "regular kind of household lights" could be of concern.

My grow is not elaborate - some good seed - Seedsman feminised White Widow - about the only thing I really spent money on.
Last year´s recycled soil that I refresh with wormcasts, perlite and lime.
In a 50 litre tub on my roof under the sun. Feed with my own Russian comfrey fert mostly.
Three girls like that gave me 44 ounces dry.
Total cost about €35.
