Germination

I use jiffy pellets for every seed I pop. I never soak seeds, germ in paper towels or anything else.

Straight in the presoaked pellet sitting in a germination dome with a heat mat. Seeds emerge for me typically in 4-5 days. Half the time I don’t even put the dome cover on.

All that to say that I’ve had great success with Jiffy pellets. Also as Herb mentioned, seed storage has a lot to do with germination rate.
I'm screwed. My mat died. I put them in the tent. I cover them so no light gets in. I was thinking about using a heating pad until my new mat arrives tomorrow. I hope this doesn't screw up the seed.

Seeds don't need light to sprout
Only seedlings need light
They're in the tent with no light leaking in. I put a black piece down and the covered with a fabric pot. I'll move them out. I could put them on water storage tanks but it's not very warm on them. Area is probably 65° F

I use a heating mat just because it’s what I’ve always used. It’s not absolutely needed.

Toss in a drawer, on a cable box, back of the, kitchen counter, even the tent. The light won’t prevent it from sprouting, it’s just not needed.

Yeah I truly over thought that. What a clown I was. I used a way recommended. I took 4 sheets of toilet tissue. Folded to make 2 sheets. Sprayed with regular water. Placed a seed then closed. Sprayed with water. This was do e inside a cd case. Wrapped with a small towel. Placed in my tent all the way up top between the tent and metal bar. 48 hours later and the taproot is about an inch. So simple. Seriously what a clown I was.
