Yeah i would sex the mother, after confirming female status put back to veg and just keep taking clones and flowering them. That's what im going to do.

Ok so I've pretty much "set" my mind they will be going 12/12 both plants.. when I have the first sign of sex and either (or both hopefully) are female I will immediately take 1 or 2 if I can clones. Those clones will be reverted to veg.. From there the clone(s) if its 2 then 1 goes to flower the other becomes the mother. If its only 1 then I keep it as a mother plant. Thats the plan for both plants.. The only decision left to be made is what day I should start 12/12 taking into account I want to do 24hrs of darkness...the only other variable i have to take into account is I still need to "cover my exhaust fans" even if its not with a Wolfman Carbon Filter, I'll probably just use a few layers of pantyhose should really do the trick..I might even be able to get a think layer or two of carbon and sorta "remake" my original pillow idea...

Anyway what I'm asking you guys for now is given the height and later tonight's pictures when would you suggest I start flowering ??

yes to your plan it will work in fact that is how alot of people start a sog......you can flower now and as soon as they show take a clone.and you can still take the top you will just have 2 colas instead of one, but either way take a branch or the top but clone your girl....wow at 22 days and still that short..... Dr bud is doing some good work all of his principles i have tried have paid off..........

Yeah man, I was a little concerned when I actually measured the plants.. Its not like they aren't healthy and all.. and as you'll see when I post some pics they're definatly growing lots of leaves.. I'm wondering if maybe I should raise the lights a few more inches for a few days see if it helps at all OR since i"m going to go to flowering soon they're pretty much guaranteed to gain height...just how much before showing sex is the question.. I'm pretty sure HK has a branch I could attempt a clone on now if I really wanted but I'd rather not shock the little gal just yet..

I'm just going to wait for a few more ppl to chime in and I might very well start my 24 hr dark period by the end of the weekend.. I'm still trying to work out in my head when the best times to have 12 on and 12 off are.. I'm thinking about having lights off from 6:30pm to 6:30am that way even if my box has the smallest of light leaks there won't be any light in my room other than maybe the glow of a tv or pc screen.. but not enough to bother dark time.. And as for the fans I mentioned earlier after this post I"m going to cover them with a few layers of pantyhose to cover up that light..

8/29 Evening Update

No real need for words tonight, both of my plants had droopy leaves after I watered them and I was mildly worried I had over watered but then figured they'd be fine once they got back to their warm climate and under their sun. Anyway here are some pics from this evening.. They are all actually macro shots so if you click them and download them they are very high resolution.. the side shot of HK if you do that you'll see tonnes of growth tomorrow morning will be exciting.

Ok... so i was thinking of this and I came up with 2 ways I would go....

1st... If you are willing to wait for your first harvest but make every harvest after that better... I would switch them to flower now, and work on a Veg/clone mother cab... As soon as either plant shows female.. transfer her to the veg cab and take clones... move the clones back to the flowering cab and root them in 12/12. If the 2nd plant also shows female (wouldn't that be nice =) do the same with her. Keep on taking clones as they become available putting all the clones in 12/12.... "Mini perpetual sog"
indefinitely! =]

2nd... If you don't want to wait for a harvest more then you have to... Switch to 12/12 now.. Build a veg cab... As soon as you have female, take cuttings and let the clone veg in the veg cab to be mothers later.. and continue to flower the original plants.... You may have to wait for the clones to grow some more before taking cuttings from them, but once they do, you will end up with a Mini perpetual sog as well.

2 different methods that will take you to the same goal.. The main points are..

you need a veg cab
you will use multiple clones to make a mini sog
putting the clones into 12/12 from the start will keep it all mini

I like the sound of it and would be a perfect easy to maintain system for your needs

lol well FT both me and wolf made the same suggestions grat minds think alike lol....dont worry aboot the droop after watering its normal, my plants are droopy at lights on, and right after watering usually perk up after an hour or 2

Yeah D, lol.. Thats pretty much exactly what I was waiting for... When I'm thinking something and then you two both tell me exactly the same. I know I'm on the right path !! lol..

As for the 2 options.. What can I say.. I'm learning patience while growing.. but I'm going to take number 2 Alex... LOL.. The 2nd will be the route I take as I'd rather wait the extra week or two for the clones to grow a bit for either more clones or a eventual mother and smoke earlier than the opposite..

Ok so guys in saying this.. When lights go out tonight.. Should I keep them off for 24 hrs then start 12/12... I'm kinda high and having a rough time with the "math" lol

As I said earlier I wanna do :
12 dark from 6pm - 6am
12 light from 6pm - 6am

So in saying that.. when should I start my 24hr of darkness.. I mean if I do it when lights go out tonight.. that wouldn't work out right.. I'm just high and having a comprehension problem.. lol.. help please..

Alright I think I figured out my "problem". I did some reading and people do anywhere from 24 - 48 hrs of darkness at the beginning and end of flowering and everything in between...So in saying that,when my lights go off tonight, they'll stay off till 6am sunday morning which is when I'll turn them on for day 1 of 12/12... Sound Good ? too bad lol I'm doing it anyway.. too much thinking lately.. lol

8/30 Morning Update

There really isn't a morning update today guys.. The plants are in a dark period before I switch them to flowering tomorrow morning.. The update I will give however is as follows.. I went over to my box this morning and usually I can see in via a pc fan. On a normal day its rather dark in there and I can barely make the outlines..Now that I've covered the lights with just black pantyhose.. Its like pitch black.. I'm really hoping that it stays like this through out the day.. There will be as little light let into this room as possible to prevent any possible leaks..

I do have to open the box to take out my cucumber/tomato plants as I'm not entirely sure how they're going to react to 12/12 lighting.. lol.. In saying that I had started a pretty ghetto dresser setup in my basement, which has 1 bulb currently and thats it.. lol. I'm a move these little guys down there today and add an extra bulb or two...

A question that just popped in my head... Since I'm planning to start 12/12 tomorrow at around either 6 or 7 am... I have to change out my bulbs.. I have the same amount of 26W 2700K's as I'm using 6500Ks now.. Should I leave one or two 6500's ? or go strictly with 2700, Right now I'm using all 6500 and 1 2700 so I guess I can just reverse it around... I dunno if the plant needs the 6500 blue in flower or if its just a waste for somewhere a 2700K could be...What do you guys think ??

if I can get a pic or two when I'm in he box in the dark I will, otherwise I dun wanna mess up the darkness for just 1 day I can wait on pics, lol..

hey farmer thanx fella for the reply im kinda new to this and finding my way around ive got a grow going myself m8 i got 3 mazar afghan 3 moroccan afghan 3 northern lights and 3 thai growning at the min im new to growing and learning loads around here thanx guys

Thanks for stopping by the journal !! Sounds like a nice lineup of ladies you have there.. I hope most if not all of them come out as females so you can enjoy that nice variety of smoke !! Hope you've learnt something from this thread and the many other great ones around.. keep some 6500k in the box mixed spectrum is good..........

Sounds good D, Tonight before I head to bed I"m going to set my 2 timers for the exact and proper light cycles as well as change some bulbs.. I'm going to start with 6.. I can upgrade to 8 or maybe 9 or 10 at a later date if REALLY needed, but that'd mess with my temps for sure.. So the plan for tonight becomes 4 x 2700K and 2 x 6500K

Tomorrow morning I'll have pics up for you guys.. Thats about it really.. its been driving me nuts not to be able to go see my girls whenever I want.. its soo freaking dark it makes me mad.. lol. but its a good thing..

Idk about the extended darkness. When you grow a plant in the good ol sun it never gets a 24-36 hr darkness period so i don't see why it would seem logical to do that when you are in all reality trying to simulate an outdoor environment for your plants.

The "logic" I read behind the move was that the 24 hr dark period sorta let the plants know ok its time to flower.. there was some more "fact" to it, I just don't remember.
Basically the main reason I'm doing this is cause it worked for Wolfman, so why the heck not !!!

Oh, and its begun.. the timers are set to turn on in just over 6 hrs for their first day of 12/12 !!! YAY, so we'll see how quick they show sex regardless of which way and that way ppl can think what they will about the darkness or not...
