I just set up a 4' x 4' enclosure in my basement. I thought that the 400 watt light would produce enough heat to keep it above 70, but it didnt. With the light on the temperature was only about 65.
This is what I did... I have a propane heater that has a thermostat control. I put that in the grow room, and set it to about 78. The problem is that heat rises, and it would heat the ceiling and not the floor. So, I hooked up two small fans to the ceiling to push the hot air down when the heater is on (the fans turn off after the heater turns off).
The 18,000 BTU heater creates a lot of heat, and if I have the thermostat set at 78 it will actually heat much higher than that (because the thermostat only checks the temperature every 3 minutes). I set the thermostat at about 70, and it will heat the room between 70-80.
My question, With the heat fluctuation between 70-80 all day, is this going to be a problem?
