Guns & Gun Violence

Cool idea with the polymer lowers. I just don't care for polymers in my guns. Especially if the AR is running direct impingement. Might be ok with a piston kit (like I have on mine) so your hot gases aren't getting in there. I went with the piston because I invested a lot of money in my trigger kit and wanted to keep the hot gases and carbon from getting to my expensive springs.
Polymer is the way of the future. I don't like polymer ar lowers because it makes them off balance. Front heavy.

Don't spend money on match grade trigger sets. Take any mil spec trigger group and pack it with rubbing compound. Go to the range and shoot a couple hundred rounds. Break it down, clean and lube. Smooth trigger.;)

The military is people, not weapons. GW had about the same military capacity as we do today. The only difference is tech.

As for the engineers of truth, I think the press is a puppet's puppet. I think the fix is in much deeper.
Not true. Technology has given us the advantage to not put bodies at the face of war. Prior to that, body count won the day.

But yea, I agree, a fix will need to run much deeper than media.

I picked up a new S&W PSX a couple of years ago & was never satisfied with the trigger pull - gritty, long etc...
A buddy whom was an armorer in a previous life even gave it a swing after I worked with it just couldn't make it satisfactory either so I Timney'd up & life is now great.

Yea, polymer lowers are total garbage.

"Match" triggers are a gimmick. But 2 stage is a different story, especially when its down to a 3lb pull.

No doubt. I mean its worth it for match grade. Im just giving the poor man a viable option for smoothing out a trigger.
Edit. I used match interchangeable with two stage. As pointed out by see4 that is not correct. Not all aftermarket triggers are the same.

We are on the cusp imo. More drones every day. But so far "boots on the ground" still matter.
But yes, one day in our lifetimes it'll be robotic war. I wonder how much less we will value avoiding war then.

I get polymer pistols. I just don't get ar polymer lowers. I mean you can get aluminum for the same price.

Also if its billet its good to go. There only a handful of machine shops that make ar parts. They just put different logos on them.

Also people also think just because they buy colt, they get colt parts. If colt runs low they order from others. You buy a colt and it have a Mossberg barrel. o_O

As long as its hammer forged its good.

Anyone interested in ar's research tier 1,2,3 manufacturers and shop around. You can buy or build that $1000 ar15 for less than 400.

Gun ownership and gun violence do not have a direct correlation. There has been no study to prove that directly. One can infer it, but it can be argued contiguously or inversely.
A quick google search points me to several studies that say just the opposite of what you posted. But...correlation is a slimy statistic and used to "prove" all sorts of things that aren't true. So, I'm not really interested in correlation of gun ownership to gun violence. There are too many factors that can fuzz up that relationship.

Something that I can't get past is a recent study that shows for every legitimate use of a gun to defend or protect a person or property in the US, there are many more times where a gun harms a person in a non-defensive event whether it be a crime, an accident, or suicide. The study came up with a ratio of 1 legitimate protective or defensive use to 22 other times when the gun harmed somebody in an event that was not defensive or protective in nature. Although I think the idea is more Hollywood than real, a 100% armed public might stop more mass murderers before they kill lots of people but it's also going to scale up the number of other events. Whether it be 1:22 or something else, there will be a higher body count due to those other events than the Rambo fantasy of stopping a mass shooter. So, pumping more guns onto the streets isn't a rational response to the problem of gun violence or mass murder.

Naw, it ain't match grade. Didn't have enough money when I was building it, right after Sandy Hook.

I say Reagan fucked us when he cut mental health. Not the only issue in play, but a big part imo.

The thing is, since the 80% doesn't qualify as a fire arm you can order them with no check. Some jack as orders one and knocks the plug out and then goes on a shooting spree it will ruin it for the rest of us.

There is no reason to a 80% receiver except to bypass a background check. I can buy stripped ar lowers for fifty bucks and get a complete upper and lower build kit with stock and buffer tube for $299 from a reputable online vendor. That $350 for a complete ar15. That's full auto bcg and chrome chamber and hammer forged barrel.

Bypassing background check is the only reason and I'm not OK with that.
Knock a plug out? I wish it were that fucking easy. The damn ATF even banned color coded polymer lowers because banning a visual aid is obviously going to stop terrorists. All that has done is encouraged DIY milling and buying aluminum blanks in bulk to compensate for mistakes.

Like I said, if "assault rifles" were an issue, they would have been an issue since WWII when the Germans developed full auto mass production.

It's obviously a people issue. The government should spend resources making sure that citizens are feeling fulfilled, contributing to society, and institutionalizing those that need help. Being P.C. is making America unsafe, it's time to stop worrying about offending people and start doing what's right.

Polymer lowers are shit. The front hooks are prone to snap off. The AR was designed to be aluminum for a reason.
