Half million people already signed up for "Obamacare"

The biggest reasons a single payer will be hard to put in place in the US is because most working Canadians pay income taxes, even the lower income workers contribute. Where as 50% of workers in America pay absolutely nothing in income taxes. Plus, because of the higher cost of living, the average Canadian is forced to live a more modest lifestyle than their average American neighbors.
Eh.... not really. There's lots of wealth here. It takes less wealth to be 'wealthy' here too.

$250,000 mortgage goes a LOOOONNNG way....

$344,000 for a 3000sq ft home? :D http://www.point2homes.com/CA/Home-For-Sale/New-Brunswick/Rural-SE-New-Brunswick/Shediac/Shediac-Cape/106-Sawdust-Road/39402745.html

Investment income is taxed differently than ordinary income. If you take 50% of someone's return instead of 15% of it, you deprive them of the ability to make additional investments.
If capital gains go up to 50%, who the hell in their right mind would take the risk for a 50% return?
Even Clinton figured this out, that's why he had to lower taxes on businesses and those evil rich investors.

And yet America prospered greatly when taxes where higher

Go figure

And shut the fuck up

And i also gather you want us to go back to the Clinton tax rates

Where are you getting this info from?

GST is 5%... lol Provinces decide their own PST(provincial sales tax) or combine to make HST (harmonized sales tax).
I looked it up on the Canadian government's web site. You've not nothing to be laughing about, since everything I said was accurate. Since 38% of the Canadian population lives in Ontario and 24% live in Quebec, it doesn't make much sense to talk about the sales tax in Nunavut or Yukon...

Eh, really!

More working Canadians pay income taxes than do Americans, only 50% of working Americans pay income tax, that's a fact.

And the cost of living in Canada is quite higher than here, check out the disparity in purchasing power compared to the US.

Consumer Prices in United States are 17.64% lower than in Canada
Consumer Prices Including Rent in United States are 14.19% lower than in Canada
Rent Prices in United States are 4.93% lower than in Canada
Restaurant Prices in United States are 19.44% lower than in Canada
Groceries Prices in United States are 18.12% lower than in Canada
Local Purchasing Power in United States is 28.47% higher than in Canada

I hate to stick up for Paris Hilton, but she hasn't inherited anything yet and won't inherit very much in the end. Barron Hilton is giving 97% of his fortune away to charity on his death, leaving only 3% to the family.

In the meantime, Paris Hilton made tens of millions of dollars on her own. She's now independently wealthy and has no need for an inheritance.
when you start off with a multi-million dollar trust fund, you can hire accountants to make you even richer. thats no great feat.

and i dont hate her because she is rich, i hate her because she is a braindead self-indulgent moron who propagates the worst stereotypes about rich people, white people and yes, even rich white people.

she is a bizzarro world Lil Wayne

1/2 a million, good number to start. That is Signed up, right? Not policy's in effect, right?
That's set up an account. Not even signed up. You can't trust anything Cheezy says. Since they deleted all the passwords, all those people will have to start all over again anyway. NY, the largest state exchange, had zero policies sold as of yesterday. The White House and HHS refuse to say how many policies have been sold. Think there's a reason for that?

people that sigh up for it have little or no money. they have nothing at all . so nothing is better then nothing , wrong. good luck getting any tests done at the doctor with that total bs insurance. they will NOT work for free at the doctors. they put Obama care in last place. rather have some body with a real insurance or cash . not some body with a 10 thousand deductible . so basically the doctor is expected to work for free. wrong. they will send you out or throw you out into the street . or demand you come up with the 10 grand up from fro testing. GOOD LUCK WITH THE OBAMA BULL SHIT INSURANCE. that will raise the rates of insurance . so we can not afford a quality policy. every body sigh up now. and wait . your going to see it will not do you any good at the doctors or unless you sigh up for a good insurance. on your own. ow by the way It will cost you double. every body has to have insurance or get fined . the insurance companies know this. RAISE THE RATES . ass holes. Obama care should have set rates no deductible , every body in the us has the same insurance . same cost for every body no matter the health issues of a person. this would be a good insurance. so bill every body 100 a month for dental and medical and medicine. insurance companies would be making very good money . people would have very good health care. but they will nottt do it like this. no way no how. because my way works. there way will not .
The insurance companies won't do this. That isn't nearly enough. Shit, my prescriptions run 600+ a month and there are 10s of millions like me.

Obama told me in a speech on my TV today I could get signed up on the phone. So I called the number he gave me and it turned out to be a bunch more of some Obama Bulls#!t. I can't sign up on the phone until I create an account online. I can't get online until the outsourced jobs to Canadian contractors fix the 3000 glitched up programming codes for 600 million dollars.

I just looked at oregons enrollment of Obama care and they say 56,000 have successfully signed up. And then later in the same article it says they sent out pre qualified notices to 260,000 food stamp people to tell them to sign up because it's free...So 56,000 thats a good number, Now we need to hear about how many paying people have sign up. I think they are embarrassed right now , but they will have to spit it out someday...or maybe they will be exercising there constitutional right to take the fifth.....
Young, healthy people will just pay the fine. Welfare recipients don't have to pay so they'll sign up. Those who are already sick "may" sign up, but when they see the deductibles, they may just decide to just go to emergency rooms anyway. So we'll have plenty of people that draw out more than they pay in, and few who pay more than they draw out. Premiums will skyrocket. Which will exacerbate the problems, eventually leading to collapse.

Half of all Americans are uninsured right?? That's what Obama told me! So that's still 156.7 million. Not too far off from insuring everyone.
40 million uninsured. Program is "expected" to insure 7 million. I don't know what happens to the other 33 million. Soylent Green maybe?

Won't matter what system they bring in. The filthy rich will keep on using the old system and get proper care. The middle class working stiff will pay for everyone while waiting 17 hours at the emergency that is filled with low life scum that are drunk and bleeding from fighting. This is how your dollars will be spent. Until you get the rich paying their fair share, the poor helping themselves out nothing will change for the working class stiffs other than they will take home less money. JAS
Didn't you just say the rich were paying their way? Oh, by "fair share" you meant paying your way too.

Everyone should have the right to life, and no one should have to choose between losing everything they have for themselves and their families, and being alive. That's ridiculous. That's one of the differences between Americans and Canadians; Canadians want to ensure everyone is taken care of. Everyone. Not just those that can afford it. FEDERAL TAX RATES FOR 2013 IN CANADA
  • 15% on the first $43,561 of taxable income, +
  • 22% on the next $43,562 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $43,561 up to $87,123), +
  • 26% on the next $47,931 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $87,123 up to $135,054), +
  • 29% of taxable income over $135,054.
I know we 'pay' for it in taxes, and it's worth it. Period. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-eng.html
Is that the only tax you pay, or are there sales taxes, excise taxes, corporate taxes, value added taxes, etc.?
