Can A plant be grown without direct Sunlight ...Im like on the wrong side of the Apt Complex and the sun really doesnt shine directly on my Apt But about 4 or 5 hours a day. I already have lights for a closet soil grow but I don't have enough space for the amount of sprouts I have.(Thanks to all of you On RIU who helped during my Germ Process) Can I just sit them on the windowsill? The flowers and plants in our yard grow just fine and they are direct light deprived...

Your best bet would be to find a secluded spot in the woods somewhere and plant em and just check up on em once or twice a week! I wouldnt recomend growing them in your window....your just askin for trouble then

YES, You need as much light as possible!
It doesn't have to be "sun light" per se. But some sort of high-output light source with the correct
color temp for your stage of growth.
I agree that if you can only grow on a shaded windowsill at your place, then go gorilla-grow!
Just make sure to do something to prevent spider-mites and animals messing with it!

You don't need direct sunlight. Use an empty cabinet or old speaker and plant the obes you don't have room for in there with fluro. So yes you can grow without sunlight just gotta have the right setup

"LUMENS" is the Key to this question.
It doesn't have to be "sunlight" strictly, But it has to be strong light quality with the right color temp.

I have an example for you a year or two ago I plants one of my girls in the woods where it was shady maybe 1 hour of direct sunlight per day and its yield was extremely low around a quarter, so yes you can grow with no direct sunlight but the less light you have the less growth and ultimately the less bud. hope that helps.

Yall are all potheads...noones reading the question
Pothead and proud of it, if you can't comprehend the basics of light you have some serious issues ahead, lighting is THE most important and essential part of growing.

I wish I had access to some smoke right-now!
All I got is Beer! and some seedlings!
HEY! What if I plant a SOG of seedlings!
Maybe I could make some seedling-hash!

Sounds like he will just keep asking the question until he gets the answer he is looking for. After germinating far more seedlings than you can possibly care for properly, yes you can grow the plants in a dimly lit environment receiving as little as 4-5 hours of sunlight. They will be spindly, pathetic, anemic, stretchy little plants that will yield almost no useable buds and far more trouble (and risk) than they are worth. Has it occurred to you that the plants growing around your apartment complex are perennial shrubs and trees that were chosen or, are adapted to a shady environment?

Go gorilla grow mayne....safer....you'll get a better yeild than barely any light just do something like he said to keep spider mites and those damn pesky fuckin deer outta your crop....I prefer landmines haha jk but if you have a dog or something you can take it out there and let it pee or you can pee around (not on) your plants and take the dogs shedded hair and spread it all over the area or you could even use bar soap but shave off chunks and throw it around...as for spider mites good luck havent found a method yet that keeps those little bastards off all of my plants every plant ive grown outside *besides the ones in back yard* have gotten spider mites...its a pretty bad prob here in the midwest

easy to get deer to leave your shit alone, find a barbor and spread some of that extra human hair around your spot. If not try to leave as much human scent behind as possible, deer will eventually get use to it but its a trick that may help.

Well.....that was a silly little dust up.......Carl pretty much nailed it......IF a grow can get full sun, from dawn to dusk, you will have monsters..........The fullness and production will diminish in proportion to the direct sunlight available.
To the OP, I suggest you give it a go and see what comes of your efforts, the answer will no doubt be more accurate than anything we could "crystal-ball" in here, given the lack of meaningful data. Such as strain, soil, actual hours of direct sunlight, at what latitude. Good luck & good grow.......BB

dude there so not awnsering youre question,...yes you can grow where you allready have the plants set up , but that not enough light during the day in the winter to give you a decent yield, they will grow but your buds will be tiny.....you should bring it in and put it under a metal haylide or a high pressure sodium bulb,......if you grow it where it is youll be dissapointed!!!

Dude! The question has been answered by several competent growers. Original question by OP:
"Can A plant be grown without direct Sunlight ...Im like on the wrong side of the Apt Complex and the sun really doesnt shine directly on my Apt But about 4 or 5 hours a day."And the answers given were, YES, but with diminished returns.
Good luck & good grow.......BB

that was nice would love to see the no light plants would be a nice experiment.
Just to be clear.....we are talking about plants receiving a reduced amount of direct sunlight. Many plants thrive on little or no direct sun. Cannabis requires copious sunlight for good structure and especially bud development.
Less direct sunshine = smaller, fluffier buds and colas.
Good luck & good grow.......BB
