Help setting up a drying space

Wow, was about to comment yesterday that I feel like its drying before my very eyes but still was reading over 70%rh within minutes but took longer to read 73Rh unlike the time before that. Also the flowers suddenly felt drier.

So I guess it was flash curing in front of my eyes by the hour because its been 20 hrs later, 48 total almost and its taking forever to read 45Rh. Shoot, I already missed the window to cure it and even press it but I should still try to press at least half of the batch I just culled.

So I overnight had a feeling I should of woken up and bagged it again at 12 hrs later instead of 20. The how-to says if its optimal cure zone that it can take 24 hrs of reading 60-65rh but I tend to see dried flowers read immediately and stay there or start to drop, but not rise 1% per hour like it says.

Grass clipping smell, pretty badly. Says if it climbs 1% per hr its likely still too wet. I just dont see that, thats the only thing I disagree on, I see 54-64 rh right away and just stays there or even drops 1% per hr.

Edit: ( Either that or 1% per hr being too wet like it says, exceeding 70rh quickly, no in between though so far IME. )

Going to just press a eighth and see what happens.

Wow it went from 9.5 to 6 gs so water weight really fled. Luckily I got to have some time at the press this morning making rosin but the bag blew out. The Rh is too low but luckily it worked still. 44rh. About to smoke the weed in a joint and dab the rosin. So not everything going the way its supposed to but got some luck on my side.

Really need to make the right enviorment, this sucked the moisture right out of it, heat and low rh. Just need put a huey and tent in a bathroom.

Zooted. Chemdog! Not the real one but by auto seeds. Auto. What a lovely morning today.

Its like chemdog but mixed with their in house auto, the same one that they made with gg4 which was my last harvest, have some hints of that there unless its just me. Hard to say since never had chemdog.

Its like this chemical taste but on the living plant its diesel and citris but this was different on consumption.

It did not have a grass taste to it, maybe a hint of it but not bothersome if theres any at all. Hard to judge one dab but it was a fat .25 or so. Chemical drier sheet taste which the drier sheet was on the gg4 which I did have the best cut of before so I can say.

So its like their auto adds this wierd taste to it but after a hit or two it gets better.

Starting to get a grasp on that method. I almost had it. But anyway, I seem to see a magic number 4 days. For larfy weed meaning it doesnt have much girth to it, it seems to be ready to smoke by day 4 if conditions arent optimal or almost optimal, meaning dry too fast and took some flavor with it. But no grass smell.

This batch is the harshest dry/cure ever made with my few grows I ever had. The method where it says dont panic read below did come true. It went from 44rh to one percent per hr up to 52. But when it dries it dies, what I said stands. It reads right away and stays there or drops 1 percent after so long but I am not using jars, just sandwhich baggies.

But it seemed to sweat down to 43rh and over two nights became snappy when folding nugs and it smokes finally but could use one more day. I taste some of the original flavors observed on the living plant with just a hint of that flavor you get from a batch weed that had a harsher dry/cure process.

Not bad by any means just something the dealer would give you extra for. It broke down normal vs splitting where the calyxes meet. Too dry for rosin but not enough to try but I know its too dry. Driest I pressed was 57rh which I tested quickly, not sit for 24hrs like method says.

Perhaps after it “sweats” they mean it will read faster and stable? Does weight come into play? Like if I did this with a quater vs almost an ounce to fill bag or whatever its going in, does it effect rh readings?

Like this was 52 rh with 2 grams but would of it read higher if I had more of the same batch weed in the ba? Meaning theres a chance I got a quick cure afterall? Something dramatically ridded of the grass smell in last 48 hrs.

Need to get my game on! Time to setup dry space and dial it in with nothing in there and then soon some larf from leg area of big plants to test it and then will be about time to harvest, oof… Idk like 5 oz minimum. I could be lucky and have more. Need to get this right before then.

Ohh yea.. Why havent I did this sooner. I used small bathroom with tent/carbon filter and huey. Flawlessly coming up with 60/60. About to harvest some wonky larf that bent over while defoliating to help bring rh down. Stay tuned, about to get real bananas up in here. Reaks of banana!

Just going to start testing it out and get the dry method down this time now that top shelf weed is being harvested soon. 4 weeks or less. I feel like the few that harvest early, people always saying to wait for so much longer than I would.

I would if I had no pressure like rh on the urge of going out of control. It would be my 3rd solo grow other than RIU’s help and did wait too long once under more severe circumstances.

Rh at 76%. Working too well. Need inkbird controller for huey. So thats good, it makes 60rh easily and even gets too humid. The bathroom is like a giant wine cooler. Perfect. After adding controller it will be optimal dry space.

Edit I got a fabric dry erb shelf that should fit right in the 2x2 which is a smidge below 24”x24”. Its like 23” and some change. The shelf is 18”D. At most I may need to cut out the last shelf. Pretty much ready to go by time of chop.

Gonna wet trim all the way and just lay nugs in shelves. Put a oz in a small sandwhich bag and follow the how to. Instead of laying outside to dry another 12-24hrs before bagging again, try again at 4 hrs. Wake up overnight if I have to.

Thats where things went wrong but perhaps 60/60 would help along with shorter dry intervals to target rh. 12 hrs was enough to skip right past optimal zone. I know jarring it will slow it down if I can just get to the right moment.

Drying whole and as long as possible is tough to do but wet trimming, a 4-7 day dry and allowing it to cure and sweat kind if makes up for it. Even though my test batch went through rough dry, past target, some magic happened in the bag over next few days.

Keeping 60/60 is the best I can do other than whole drying, I just would end up trimming buds off stems anyway to bag test it. I dont think rh reading in the tent counts unless shutting fan off and even then, but its a thought.

^^ Let me know what you think about that, it was suggested but idk how accurate it would be. Said dial fan in until 75rh and go down by itself to target. Is that accurate reading of whole batch of weed? With or with fan off?

Wet trimming just gets it out the way and can sample random nugs to get more accurate bag test. Vs testing the same buds that now are detached from main stems vs the rest, perhaps drying faster now. Causing inaccuracy.

I press rosin is the goal and too low rh will not yield rosin. So this actually is critical as well as if I ever need to cure because the dry went too fast for no clear reason, it happens dont it?! I see threads on it asking why.

Where would you place humidity probe, in or out the tent? Can you wet trim with a bud trimmer?

It can get much more cool and humid in tent as outside. Id think inside the tent so when its too humid the plug can act by changing lung room conditions.

Oh snap I just tried some super sugary leaves that were crisp already, I like to flash dry them in flower lung room for quick samplin.. Im used to sugar lacking leaves but this kongs krush is just krushin it.

So resinous I can flash dry 48hrs and it dont just smell like bananas. It also tastes like the dankest banana ever. Im a little zooted from it too. Little to no grass smell due to all the sugar.

Let alone waiting a couple/few more days. I can easily bag them and smoke or what ever. This plant has so much sugar on leaves Im gonna have to know what to do with it.

They smoke unbelievably though as is which is just wow. Freeze or 5 mins and/or work in winter cold garage. Get them all on the vivosun tray with massage gun and collect kief. Im scared to death to press rosin with kief, I never got a good run out of one.

2 and half days dry, wet trimmed but let it hang on stem. Next time I will use a fabric dry herb shelf instead of hanging. Im at that part again to redeem myself and see if I can actually cure this frosty larf.

Instead of taking it out I will just open bag for 2-4 hrs and reseal. Next time I would just toss back on rack and bag up another random 14-25 grams that this bag fits and re test until its reading 70rh or less for 24 hrs.

& just before then I would put all weed into air tight bags or jars. To treat all bags the same, open for short time and seal and keep sealed once it hits target zone.

Gonna do huge see through bags so I can interact with meter through the bag to not disturb the cure down to 64rh. I guess I am just finishing drying and sweating to get the rest of the grass smell out and make sure I dont miss the window to press.

Also learning to cure, going to leave some bud aside to have and give away.

Almost done with day 4, at 3pm it will be start of day 5.

Still on track, I opened bag for 5 hrs before sleep. Closed it, slept for 5 hrs and woke up 3 hrs later to see 76rh but stayed at 70 for a while. I thought I was at that phase but it read 76 so I opened bag this morning to keep open for 4-6 hrs.

These were yesterdays notes I just didnt want to post to alert everyone but I suck at notes. Realizing I need take even better notes next time.

Today at 3 will be start of day 6. These notes arent on point but will reread it and get an idea of what I did and do it again.

My notes overnight make no sense. But from what I think happened, I bag tested to find I need leave them out to dry longer for 6 hrs about 3 times with the 3rd being what I have now.

Now its staying under 70% for quite some time, like 5-8 hrs. It happened overnight so was sleepy but next time going to take better notes.

Flowers feel dryer and smell less green. At phase where I open bag for 1-2 hrs and retest until 65rh is happening now. Furthest I got with curing. About to harvest an eighth to do this again but press it so I practice and finally get some homegrown/pressed rosin to sample.

Its warm and dry in grow room but I often am there so the weed is next to me but when I re-dried each time I most the time put it back in dry space at 65F and 50RH. Next one will be close to 60/60 with the new inkbird.

Edit I need jars. I got em but not big enough to hold hygrometer. I got one for now though. But need more meters too. I put air in a sandwich bag full and sealed it.

Day later its much less full. Air finds its way around it like it said in a online search if bags can be used for this or at least testing rh. I think it can test rh but thats it. Even then, I should test it in jars.

Last time it dried too fast being in low rh. Like germinating seeds paper towel method, wont work in flower room 35rh or less. Dries out overnight killing them. So checking sooner to be safe was good but not as needed if rh is good unless its been long enough and suspect theyre ready soon.

first shelf is just right in place with tent opening so the rest of top tent like 8” is empty and right in area where exaust fan duct is. I think thats ok. Only two shelves dont fit and touch the ground. Enough for a pound and a half apprx . Maybe more. So I am set just about.

The inkbird was a longer second to figure out, any tips let me know. I have it set to 60% rh, Humid diff value 1.0 and dehuey diff value 1.0 so I think that means it will turn on/off appliances based on 61rh and 59rh.

Not sure thats right, if you want more but I think the delay protection value is set to min of one minute to protect appliances. Correct?

So far its not as sensative as a hygrometer. taking a while to go from 35rh to 60rh in bathroom. Already full of water vapor. I have probe in tent, is that good? Would you set it outside of it?

Edit it took a minute but its actually dead on with caliber! after like 8 mins.

Opened bag for 1 hr a few times today. Its finally reading 65rh so going to check that it stays there for 24hrs and jar it. Then forget about it. Then smoke it a few weeks from now. My first cure! Also dried it properly technically therfor.

I harvested some kongs krush larf that was starting to bend upside down. two small colas smushed against the wall so I harvested them to avoid mishap. And practice.

This batch I am pressing most of as soon as it hits 64 or 65rh. Should be like 7-14gs. The inkbird is great, keeps it 60rh on dot.

Its getting late so will wait till tomorrow to prune or possibly harvest a plant going wrong. Got 8 weeks flower out of it though.

It read 64-65 rh for 12 hrs or so maybe longer. So I put i to a jar to cure. Is it too early if the bud has flex still? Has a damp feel to it but if I keep drying it can easily over dry. The how to says stems should snap now but they dont but it is just barely smokable in a bowl.

What yall think, see any suspect mold or anything? I really pushed the limits and luckily realized right now is best to chop and consider it a lucky screw up.

It has a smell to it but thing is so does any plant so far that I chopped, soon as you chop it gets this smell to it. Musky grassy smell which sometimes can mean mold but I had a ugly mold infection before and it seems clean to me.

Just to show what I mean. It was too packed. I think I got lucky though. I could be comparing smells to a over packed canopy that molded once and the underlit sections that were also tightly packed had this subpar smell to it.

I have a optimal plant almost ready for harvest, the larf on it is well spaced but also has this subpar weed smell to it compared to fully green, light exposed spots.

This is too good to be true.. I just keep pulling oz after oz out of the boz. Almost done but gots to be 2-3oz. Its got to of molded slightly or something.. I went over all the signs and seems clean though.. The smell has me paranoid, no clue if its normal or mold.

Headache could be from the long day harvesting this plant which not done yet. Smell could just be from strain and /or the subpar canopy style. The prime areas in open that no doubt has no mold and it smells the same all through out the weed.

I had two clean noses smell it, they dont smoke and have clean noses and say it just smells like weed. Nothing faul or moldy. Heres about 2-3 oz if Im still a good eye baller. Theres still like a half oz to a oz to go. Im probably over estimating but idkkkk lol. Its fillin up.

Edit Im finally done. What a pita. So thats everything altogether in the pics. two shelves worth.

Would you use ro water for huey to avoid the fine talc that tap water produces? Can it coat the buds?

The space caninet weed smells much much better overnight, starting to doubt any mold.
