As to the inherent danger of jimson weed, it has been documented during adolescent rituals of the Chumash the participants were placed, after being dosed, in a corral to spend their sojurn. Gotta lock up the crazies.
Yeah I took it with my friends out in Joshua Tree. None of my friends could keep up with me and after the convulsions ended I took off into the desert. I'm lucky it was spring or I may not have made it back from that adventure.
I remember knowing it all. Lol
Being retired IS all it's cracked up to be except for the "Being in line to be the next to die" and wondering how long the line is.
I'm shocked I'm this old. It never ceases to surprise me I'm still here. So it's all gravy and if none of my stupid shit got me earlier I'm curious what finally will.

I've morphed into a professional trout fisherman, well, sans endorsements, trophy's, sponsors . . .

Ok, I just like fishing then!
Many years ago took my wife fishing for trout in waders on the ausable river
We came to a y in the river and went separate ways I told her to stringer her fish by tying it to her waders if she caught any
An hour later I went back to check on her and she is smiling ear to ear standing sideways in the river
I asked “any luck” ?
And she replied “yes everyone coming by in canoes said it’s a beauty “
I’m thinking she was proud and probably held it up as they floated by
I asked to see it and she turned to show me
And there tied firmly to her waders was a beautiful fifteen inch brown trout
hanging a foot above the water
:oops::lol:

I ate 8 peyote buttons one time- 5 dried and 3 fresh
"Eso se masca." I ate buttons about 6 times, usually by myself. Since I never used it as a 'get high' experience I never puked once. I saw a lot of other "get high" guys spend entire nights puking. I turn 70 in October. The story about two africans throwing energy at each other may not be made up. I once spent an afternoon with a very well known Shoshone medicine man. One of the things he mentioned was as a younger man he sat with some old ones who at night around a fire were playing a game where someone would throw a rock out beyond. Then someone else would will it back into the glow around the fire. They did this for hours.

I'm so old I can't even remember if I ever responded to this post. 59yo this august. Not having fun getting older.
I'm so old that my driver's license doesn't expire until I'm 90 yo. Got it late last year when I needed I.D. It had been expired for over a year. Told the lady I don't drive anymore and she gave me an 8 year license so I wouldn't have to go in every couple years. How about that. Someone from the government actually did something nice!

"The latest Social Security retirement benefits quiz of near-retirees from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) exposes that too many – 69% -- failed or barely passed. In fact, more than one-third (35%) failed (vs. 29% last year) and another one-third (34%) barely passed with a grade of D (vs. 36% last year). An online poll about Social Security commissioned by MassMutual was conducted by PSB Insights from March 31 to April 5, 2023, among 1,500 Americans nearing retirement (age 55-65) who have not filed for Social Security retirement benefits. If you take prescription meds and aren't on a program that either pays for or gives you a discount as part of your policy, or you have a big deductible, read on. I had to pick up something the other day that was $35 "retail" and cost me $5.20 using https://www.goodrx.com/
There are a few places like this so scout around for the best pricing. Saw this today which prompted me to post:
