I had to make an entirely new load out from my normal one when I was in Arizona hiking in 115 degree heat.

Let’s just say it also included an emergency can of pure oxygen…lol

Thanks for posting . You motivate me to check my kit . I need to get some Benadryl. Our kits are very different. I found those suture kits at work in an old emergency kit. I never thought about packing them before but I figure why not , they are small enough. I hope to NEVER have use them ever. I can’t imagine how painful that would be or how to help someone deal with the pain of having to use it. The 18in 4-0 ethicon kit has an expiration date of 01/10 . Why would this expire? Do you think the thread might have disintegrated ? Would you recommend me throwing it out? Thanks.

Can weighs almost nothing, plastic mouthpiece is the heaviest part, and they make a can half this size even…I’ll probably pick a few of the small cans up to include in the future

I use to
Use that stuff all the time when I hiked and biked in the high elevations of Colorado. I think it’s a gimmick because I really don’t think they help very much. physiologically maybe. If you have one of those finger oxygen devices you could test it out. Man, I should have thought about that when I was using them.

Started hiking the fire towers in the ADK and the Catskills. This is St Regis Mountain last year, the aurora came in just as the storm was forming over me from the south (not forecasted). Hiked down in the rain with a headlamp that was intermittently working. Spoke Oneida loudly down the trail when ever I heard movement in the woods. The guy at Paul Smiths told me it would take 2 hours+. I did it in 1.5 hours with 20lbs on my back.

Beautiful shot, that's an adventure to get it too.

Skyline Blvd hikes. This old guy joined us for a break . It was too hot to hang very long. Nice view over the mountains looking into the Pacific Ocean. There was a lot of wildlife including some fox. This grasshopper was so camo cool.

You’re making me hella jealous exploring my old stomping grounds. I got a buddy that lives just off Skyline. I almost rented a pad up there.
Do you and your husband play disc golf by any chance? If you do you gotta play DE LAVEAGA, one of the best DG courses out there. Oh and of course you gotta hit up The Mystery Spot and get a bumper sticker. Have fun at the Boardwalk for me too.

No disc golf. Lol. I don’t know about the Mystery Spot or the boards. None of that appeals to us. Do you know of any secret gem locals only spots? I am looking forward to getting these creeks and waterfalls a flowing soon. This is an outdoorsy persons paradise playground. I have a couple hiking books and the all trails app that has gotten me to some killer places so far. Then Skyline Blvd had so many trails and maps. I plan on getting up there A LOT! What views up there!!

Have you scoped out Big Basin Redwoods State park yet? I grew up next to Boulder Creek in Ben Lomand and have spent allot of time there. Some long trails through the Redwoods. Not 100% how much is still open or opened back up since the Lightning Complex fire in 2020 but there’s def some killer trails there. Some are very long too! You can hike all the way to the ocean if you feel like it. Or waterfalls. So many trails and never was that busy with people when I’d go there.
Henry Cowell entrance from Felton(hwy 9) has some cool shorter trails that will take you down to the San Lorenzo river. Entrance from up in Scotts valley has bigger trails through the Redwoods too. You can take a train ride through the Redwoods to the Boardwalk from Roaring Camp if you want to also ;-) :-D
Castlerock in Saratoga, not really that far away has a killer trail. And, the Rock itself is a killer place to trip on shrooms or dose.

The flies in the redwoods are annoying right now so I take my bike to the coast and chill and get high on the beach after a long ride. It’s heavenly!IMG_1552.jpegIMG_1550.jpeg
