How are you cooking your turkey?

I wait all year for the standard traditional meal. I'm just brining and roasting the turkey. I cook turkey several times a year but on turkey day I want that meal I grew up with. Deep fried and smoked are delicious but it doesn't bring back the memories from all those times sitting around the table with family on Thanksgiving.

Can't fault you there!! Honestly I'd probably cook my turkey in the oven, if my oven was big enough  . My kitchen is about 8x8, and all I could fit was a little apartment or dorm sized oven. It works for just about anything, but a 15 lb bird ain't going in there without touching the heating elements. I use the oven for ham, stuffing, and green bean casserole, and I pack it in there like sardines.
I hope your Thanksgiving meal brings back good memories, and creates many more!! Egg Nog is what brings back all those good holiday memories for me.

Menu

Roast Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Stuffing - cooked outside of the turkey
Rolls
Carrots
Brussel sprouts
Cranberries - I don't like them but the lady bought herself a can. :spew: She likes that better than fresh. One less thing for me to cook.
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie

Am I missing anything?

My lady works at a bakery and will be grabbing a pecan pie and the rolls from there.

Normally I cook and take everything over to my mothers and other family members show up there. This year I'm dropping off care packages for my mother and brother due to the current circumstances. But we'll all eat a delicious meal.

Nice!! Sounds like a great meal! I'll be serving some of the same sides with my turkey and ham. Cornbread dressing/stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac n cheese, green bean casserole, and deviled eggs. I usually make chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

I guess we'll find out how well it works without thawing the crusts first... Edit, that might be the correct way, the instructions suck. Meh.

Thats what I'm talking about!! One of the benefits of spatchcocking a turkey is I get to boil the backbone as well. I split the stock between the gravy and dressing. I do cheat a little and make packaged gravy and mix it with the homemade stuff to stretch it a little farther.
