God Bless California, because that ain't happening in Connecticut
So, all is cool with you then?
No problems?
That's really good to hear, because everyone else I know is crying :(
I believe in California people are getting up to $1050 ($450+$600) a week.

The people i really feel bad for are the illegals though. Which will not be able to collect anything. They are going to be the most fucked.

You implied it. You are resentful that she is able to survive while unemployed, meanwhile you still have to work to survive.
I am not in the least bit resentful. I helped her make the claim. And i hope that the rest of my friends checks come as well.

I guess if i sound sour, its because all of my friends are just straight chillin right now. and i am considered an 'essential worker' being forced to work overtime so that the rest of the world can use the internet.

Oh you mean you get to be one of the lucky ones that collect $950 per week for the next 36 weeks while i get asked to put in overtime. Must be nice, i would love a paid 10 month vacation

Nothing has kicked in; new unemployment claims are yet to receive the $600 bump, so you're not missing much..the $1200, has started to be direct deposited off the 2018/2019 tax info as of last Friday with first receiving Wednesday 4/15 in their accounts. There will be a website launched on 4/17 "Where's My Stimulus" for those not receiving on first round.

He is coding from home. Considering how cheap that labor is, i would be willing to bet his 11hrs a day is out of necessity.
Pretty clear why a $950 check sounds great to him
Its shitty how employers have treated that sector of work. Those people are generally very well educated and do work hard. But the job is portable and a US worker has to compete with people in Banglore or elsewhere where the cost of living is lower and good jobs are harder to find. US workers built the companies and then are told to take a pay cut but mostly are told to train their foreign worker replacements.

If one good thing comes from this epidemic it might be the end of rampant job stealing, wage sucking globalization, environment degrading corporate globalization. Also, honor given to workers. Maybe re-energize the union movement or would that be too much to hope for?

My father was a union machinist for ge in lynn, ma. Jobs like that are few and far between.
