this shit is gonna get old quickly. i'll be happy to isolate and be alive at the end, but our lives are about to change incredibly
Man, I'm stuck at home and don't dare do much. My mom is in assisted living (dementia along with a raft of other issues) and my wife is main care giver to her elderly mother (alzheimer's). If I come down with this thing, our whole support system for both parents comes down. My Apocalypse Now family dinner was our agreed upon last large family gathering until after this whole thing dies down. (the bbq oysters were a hit, by the way, so were the margaritas)

My guess is we are just at the beginning and looking forward to a long time before life gets back to normal.

In the meantime, what do you think of Michi-can? I have only seen cryptic comments that strike me as one of those "Democrats are same as Republican" logicial fallacies. His butt seemed to get hurt over my calling Republicans fascists. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I think he's another right wing troll trying to make a fake point about socialism.

and for him, i go by this philosophy on this site: a troll, like a desert cactus, will show it's bloom eventually.

It's impossible to tell, but these were new conspiracy theories to me.

Dang I forgot you own a laundromat. You know last time I went to the laundromat, I thought I was going to have to get physical with the old lady owner lol.

I washed a couple loads of clothes there and figured I would save money and bring home my clothes to dry in my own dryer, well she stood in front of the door when I was trying to leave and was telling me since I wash there I have to dry there.,.....WTF? I told her no I'm going home to dry my clothes and she better move out of my way. It was a weird awkward situation. She was mad as hell at me and told me to never come back
WTF . that broad is crazy. your clothes to dry how you please.

My oldest son was furloughed this afternoon, and my daughter was just laid off tonight. My other son will likely be laid off by the weekend.

It was all a result of the closures. I was laid off at the end of january on an unrelated rif, but no corporations are hiring right now because of the disruptions this virus is causing, and nobody is hiring contract workers. Everything is on hold is what I'm being told.

Not fun times to be sure.

My work is mainly around public events (music, dance, theater, public speaking), and pretty much everything is canceled. I still have my base salary I'll make doing maintenance and paperwork (for now; fingers crossed -- I do have a contract), but none of the extra income (OT, extra gigs, equipment rentals, etc). So far this month, I'm losing around $1500-$2000 already, and likely the same next month as well due to cancellations.
I'm losing at least 1000 a week and it's been getting worse could be more soon when you stack that stock crash on top it's not looking good hopefully everything is back to normal by may

Ouch. Yeah, I'm not considering any investment losses myself because that's not real money.
