How to cut a heatsink to length?

Any metalworkers out there know a good way to cut a section of heatsink?

I have a skil saw and a table saw at my disposal. From what I've read a carbide tip blade with a finer tooth profile and cutting oil should cut through aluminum easily. I can see a table saw kicking it right back at me so I'm leaning towards the skil saw..

I have a 2' heatsink but the best case I could find to match is 17". So 6" or so needs to go..

Not the best heatsink but I hate wasting things so I'm going to do some things to revive it

About 2 years ago, I ended up using a DeWalt chopsaw with a 80 tooth 12" carbide blade. Used this setup to cut other metals and aluminum for about six months, replaced the blade once.

I did wish I could have secured the 120 tooth though, seems to be a finer cut @ higher speeds.

I also have a simple $7 -7"carbide blade from Ace for the Skilsaw and while I have never cut metal with it, I bought it to cut granite and I have used it several times. Takes a little work, but cuts granite very cleanly. Don't have an pics of my work unfortunately, but aluminum should be no problemo...

Clamping it securely, will be just as important as the tool you are going to use too :peace:
