Hydro Watering Advice

Hello,

So if you look at my signature you can see what I have set up per plant (only 1 light shared between both). The Grow bucket was bought already made from a hydroponic store complete with the nets, pre-drilled air tube hole, as well as a drain nozzle. The "kit" also came with the air pump and an air stone. After I got home and set everything up, adjusted the light height, hung the thermostat, timer switch, etc, I noticed there wasn't a water pump to send the water up from the bucket into the net. I also noticed the labeled "fill line" was above the bottom of the net.

With all that in mind, I need some help from seasonal hydro growers with my first grow. I see videos and forum posts about over watering seeds and not to drown them, but I also see posts, to me, suggesting as long as the water is oxygenated you are safe. Since I do not have a water pump to feed into the net, can I fill the water up past the net, with the rockwool and seed sitting in the water as long as I keep the air stone going? Should I only fill the water to the base of the rockwool, but have the sprouts a bit higher than the bottom of the rockwool so it's absorbing from the rockwool and not "swimming" in the water?

I do plan on eventually getting a water pump, but will this grow be possible without it?

Thanks for reading, I hope this is a legitimate question...

Waterline should be touching the bottom of your net pot until a few inches of root drop from the net pot. Then lower the waterline about 1" below the net pot. Top feed once a day or two by hand until you have a decent root ball started.

OK got ya. Right now the fill line is actually about an inch above the net pot, and I have just the bottom rim of the rockwool touching the water line so it'll soak up. For the feeding, I'm guessing since I'm lowering the water line, splash it with a mixture of nutrients?

I wouldnt have the water touching the rockwool. It will suck up water and it holds a lot. This can cause problems.

Hand water the plant until it has roots extending out from the rockwool and into the water.

A seedling shouldnt need nutrients until the roots have come out of the rockwool and are touching the water or very close. I would wait for the roots to be established before beginning a feeding schedule. Go easy on the nutrients at first.

Yea that is one thing I've noticed on almost every post about growing, easy on the nuts. Thanks for the tip, lowering the water now.

Edit: So until roots are sprouting, when watering I want the rockwool to get damp, just not soaked right?
