Hypothetically speaking, if you could start all over what would you do differently???

well she will vomit if she eats too much of the flowering plant leaf. i think because there's prob more thc in it then the vegging leaves. she has no problem with those at all. i go in and there were there used to be a 6 inch clone in soil is now a stick in the dirt, sheeesh.

good soil is a must. i used miracle grow organic potting soil at first and had to transplant them all. i use premium pro-mix now, good stuff.

ouch i learned my lesson long ago to never leave her alone or they will be stripped as high as she can reach ive noticed alot of growers have cats shows the good character of mj growers imo

really? i am glad i learned on cfls and outside. i had no idea cfls would get so hot. i have over 400 true watts in each the flower and veg area and they make it kinda warm. i am glad i have that knowledge now so i can prepare properly for the 600 hps i am buying tomorrow.
is it cool tubed? if so i think you'll find it actually alot easier to control temps. I ran a few big cfl grows and switched to hps and thats what i noticed. if you were not going to get the cool tube let me say it is most definetley worth it.

I wouldnt have spent $300 on hydro systems that I dont even use anymore.... $300 could have went a LONG way starting my grow.. :(

i like that roof coating idea. looks pretty good.

makes that much of a difference? i will def be checking the cool tube lights today. i wanted to hang bare, verticle, and have a small window a/c unit installed on a frame blowing right into my closet. you don't think that will be enough? all advice is welcome. thats why i started this thread, i don't want to have a bunch of regrets and to prevent others from the same regrets. :peace:

dang vilify that sucks. i guess its true what they say about starting out in soil first. you good now?

My advice would be fresh air. Bare vert is the way to the promised cola. I am working on a 4200 watt vert bare bulb now. I was going to go with cool tubes, but I think I will try bare first. Fresh air, and tons of it are required if the outside air is cool. Otherwise, yea A/C and tubes.

P.S. To control heat, my plan is to run Galaxy select-a-watts so I can dial back to 600, then 400, as the foliage approaches the bulb. (72'
2) This technique works well, because lumens are about the same when 2 feet from a 600 or 1 foot from a 400, but with less heat. Hope this helped.

Let's all look back at our first grow and look at the things we would change to be more successful... :weed:

I would...invest in proper lighting. I believe you can't go wrong with PROPER artificial sun.

Anyone? Anyone?
I'd run separate air channels for lighting and venting etc :) I'd have started with 50L DWC pots.. I'd run Co2, I'd run 2X Dual-Spec 600's and I'd introduce a fully automatic automated feeding schedule so the plant can grow completed un assisted from seed-to-bud :) :) :) .. and I would have used ORCA Film instead of Mylar to line my whole cab from the start ..Still thats a project for the future :) - STELTHY :leaf:

Where do you get a fully automatic automated feeding system? I saw a picture of one that drops in pH up or pH down into a res when needed. To do the whole grow fully automated... that would be fucking cool!

Why should you need seperate channels for lights and vents? I am thinking or running my exhaust like this.
Filter- Fan - Cool tube - Cool tube - exhaust with a 175cfm fan in a 160cubic foot room. Any trouble with that?

2 cooltubes with what size lights? 175 cfm pulling through a filter and 2 lights is pushing it m8 (depending on wattage) i would go with the 6 inch 450 cfm for 2 lights and just turn the speed down if you need to.

I want to go with a bigger fan, I mean 450 cfm would be awesome, only thing is this is in my house and I want to be able to have people over and they hear it coming from the basement. With the 175cfm I can detect an odd humm coming from the basement. I would definately fork out the money for a bigger fan if I wasnt afraid it would sound like a jet engine down there. Are there any fans that will actually remain moderately quiet at 450cfm?(As long its not Louder than my 175 its ok)?

Also why is that setup "pushing it" as you say. Is it because my room will overheat? Or is it because the cooltubes/bulbs/sockets/wiring will cook? Or maybe in this case both, but Im just wondering what the main reason you say this won't work. Thank you for the feedback, good to know now I can look into an alternative. BTW two 1000watters

Well I started awful and have kept getting a little better each time...because if you don't have something you can get by without it, but the results will never be what you really want to see way deep down inside...lol. My biggest thing and easiest to have changed...was my thought of how important can a fan be?...really?! They are really important...and it wasn't that I didn't have one or anything...I am just lazy and was like whatever I don't need a fan..lol. but I moved the fan in there and wow what a difference...

there no way a 175 will cool 2x 1000 watt lights down and suck through a filter, ive got a 450 cfm (6 inch) sucking through a 600+400 and temps are perfect, also by pushing i ti mean your room will get to hot with only 175 cfm to cool 2 x 1000, also if you use the 450 with a speed controller it might make the same noise or could even be quieter than than your current one, what i do no though m8 is if you buy the 175 cfm you are throwing your money away because its not strong enough. this is just my opinion though./

Things I would do differently? Not take advice from hydro store workers. Don't get me wrong my hydro guys are fantastic and I can spend all day in there chatting to them but they dont really know enough about grow room setup and I bought an inadequate fan for my 600w for summer running.

I'd also feed COCO every time i watered rather than the water water feed I did in the beginning lol.

Its not just your opinion. It's mine too.

I would say your possibly gonna need 500CFM's for those 2x1000w. Then I would use a second fan with filter attached to exhaust your room efficiently.

I use 400CFM/660CMH with a single 600w air cooled blockbuster
