Tell me how you test for "humane meat," "conflict free diamonds," "non-slave chocolate/ free trade," etc?

It's all bullshit to make you feel better about what you know is wrong.

In Mexico, cows aren't given antidepressants and outfitted with holes to reach in with your hand and check the stomach contents. I think I'll have a steak.

I'm vegan as well. Most vegans cite "animal cruelty" as a reason why they went vegan. *Trying* to kill a deer with a small caliber rifle is cruel, imo. There is a very good chance you will only wound the animal and allow it to bleed out and suffer for hours/days if not found. I would much rather see a clean shot with a proper gun that takes the animal out quickly ..... and doesn't allow it to suffer. I'm kind of shocked that you give this no consideration.

BTW, I have no issue with hunters that do things properly and hunt for the meat. I do not support trophy/sport hunting.

Usually a bullet in the back of your head/neck does it, a .22 would probably just wound the thing and let it die slowly from bleeding out.

If you hit it properly with a decent calibre round it'll die painlessly.

I guess youre a pretty shitty vegan.

.22 magnum in a deer head will do the trick fast, but a .223 is plenty big for white tail, I could agree with a larger caliber for the bigger antlered animals (elk, moose, etc.).

We take 300 to 400 pound hogs with a .22 chipmunk, bullet placement is always key no matter what the caliber.
 
If painless death is a huge concern then bow hunting would have restrictions already, you wanna talk about a precise shot. I have shot them with a bow and had a good hit and still not die till 200 yards later. I have seen a white tail shot at 150 yards right in the kill zone and still tracked it 100 yards. Deer are really tough animals and sometimes survive the unthinkable.

What does intelligence have to do with it?

Most hunters I am aware of do it for sport. And that generally means that they try to get the best kill possible. They dont want to shoot an animal in the ass and track it for 5 miles before it dies.

A .22 through the heart is just as lethal as anything else.
