update 27 days in veg

my temps are a little low at night (19c ) but still hitting 23c mid day so they should be fine.
have done some training on the girls to get the canopy a little more full and even, but one plant did not need any training as she looks great :)

always learning mate, never tried making a soil mix like this before but i would like to get to a point where i only need to give them some organic nutes in week 5-7 in flower, as i don't know if you can get great results without add any nutes in flower

would like to find out :)
Soon as you find out you let me know bud.

How long you plan to veg for?

Turning them over on Saturday as I want to grow 4 large tree's full of bud, going to flower them off under 2 600w hps light and add a vertical 250w mh 2 weeks in flower and add t5's side lights

Flowering the plants off under a 600w mh for the first week then adding the rest of the lights

going to train and defoliation the plants in flower, i am going to have horizontal and vertical lights on 4 plants, all 4 plants are going to receive a good amount of red light from the hps and blue light from the mh,t5's to give the plants the perfect spectrum of light

The light penetration from the mh, hps and the side light should give the plants loads of light to cover the 4ft x 6ft canopy x 3ft deep

The 250w mh is in a cage and will sit in the middle of the lights 6" above the pots ( also added a pc fan under the bulb for extra airflow) , to give the lower canopy more light and the side lights will also help the lower canopy receive extra light, (all the side lights are going to be same height as the mh)

don't have budget to buy the best light so i am making do with what i have

hoping this will work any advice with this @ttystikk would be great

yer i have been trying to work out a descent setup for a long time where vertical and horizontal lights can work together, this is the best one i could think of with my lighs

if this works out, going to replace the 250w with a 400w mh and use Propagation Grow Lights
Reflector 4 Tube Bulbs to make a ring round my room level with the 400w mh
as i am sure this would give me tree's full of buds 3-4ft high :)

yer i am good mate and you ?
Sure that's not overkill on the lights? good question

Trying to think of the best way to answer this, hmm

when you flower under a horizontal hood (600w hps) the light penetration is not very good, you will only get the top 12" of good canopy growth, lower than 12" the buds receive a low amount of light, that's why growers do a sog setup, ( loads of plants 6-12" high) or a scrog ( buds will only be a few inches high but have a level full canopy and often lolpop the lower growth) or top and lst the plants, really the list is endless with different techniques to keep the canopy level and full

growing vertical like ttystikk can give you amazing results but the plants are tall and need to be tied and supported as the buds grow towards the light ( takes a lot of time )

my ideal is to have a good amount of light on the top 12" of the canopy, just like any other horizontal grow, level and full of top cola's

now where most growers lollipop the lower growth because it's not getting enough light I will have a vertical light ( 12" -24" below the canopy ) covering the lower part of the plant, this will increase the amount of light the lower canopy receive and with the side light 12-24" below the canopy the plants should receive enough light to get a canopy 24" thick with good quality buds, so in theory this could even have the potential to double my yield with the extra lights :)

The main problem with adding the extra 400-500w is the extra heat, but that's why i am doing this grow now and it should be finished my the first week in may so the temps should stay low
