I would just like to start this out by saying everything I am doing is fake.

Anyways, sent the mail today. Went with Ralphster's for my first pretend grow, Ecuador strain.

I was thinking of getting an image of the envelope and displaying, but I thought that'd be a little much.

See you guys again in ~10. :D

Its not an organic molecule... So i dont think so. What would organic vermicullite be? I believe its just a natural mineral that occurs, it doesnt contain carbon though. Im sure whichever one you use is fine, just make sure its got vermicullite and no other dodgey shit.

i buy my verm at lowe's. works great just make sure you add the right amount of everything, and pc your jars at 15psi for 1 hour.

Just got confirmation that my pretend spores are being shipped, was worried because I sent an undisguised twenty threw the mail. xP, how naïve of me. x.x

Just got a rice cooker! Still looking for jars though :(, went to KMART and they didn't have any. Needless to say I was pissed. Any suggestions?

mason jars you can find at walmart, for less then $10 a dozen. spores are not illegal at all, except 3 states in the USA. i used my debit card and ordered online, same with my seeds. does the rice cooker go to 15psi? i bought my 16quart pc at palmart for $70. it has to go to 15psi to sterilize your jars. i pc my quart jars for 60-90 minutes. then let set for an hour. then remove lid and shake jars. then shake jars every 2-3 hours a couple times so no grain sticks, and the dryer grain from top is mixed with the rest of the grain. i boil my grain to make it expand, then fill jars 2/3 the way before pcing them. if you got any more questions dont be afraid to ask. i'll help when i can. i'm still learning and there is better mushroom growers then me out there. i've only been growing mushrooms for a couple months by the way.

By 4 times shaking the jar, you mean during the 24 hours before you inoculate a sterile/pasturized jar, or every day from then on?

Also, I have a rice cooker, Aroma ARC-2000 to be specific, that doesn't have a psi gauge on it, assuming because of this it can't reach 15psi, could I still pasteurize the jars using it? And if so, what would be the best temperature range? I think it can reach as high as 400 degrees. And, what could I place below the jars so the glass won't crack?

Also going to have it set for 90 minutes. If I do this should I first bake my verm anyways? (As stated above or in another thread it had several puncture spots in the bag pre-purchase, but all of them were like that)

Sorry about the delay guys, but the fake spores should be here by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.

you shake the jars right after you take them out of the pc. the top grain with be kinda dry, so the shaking mixes all the grain together. then you inoculate, then shake and let sit in a warm dry area. low 80's is good. when you have some myc growing to about 20% i shake my jars, then let sit. shake again at 60-70%. then your jar should be done soon. well at least ready to do grain to grain, or bulk substrate. any signs of comtam get rid of it quickly. not sure if your rice cooker will or will not work. 15psi is 250 degree. i would wait and get a pc so you know your jars are sterile, and you dont waste your time, and money, and maybe even your health from contams.

The thing is that after my rent, food, gas and other essentials I have no money, so springing for a PC isn't really an option. The Rice Cooker is actually my friends. What do you mean low 80's? Also, isn't the point of the top layer to insulate the lower level from contams, why would you want to mix it. (Probably wrong, I am a newb after all xP)

Do you even need anything to keep your jars from cracking in a PC?

Even if I could scavenge up 20$, I don't think there's a decent PC at that price.

i do grain not cakes. the top layer of dry verm for cakes is a comtam barrier. save your money. buy a pc from walmart or ebay. i just use the lifter plate that came with my pc for under my jars. havent cracked a jar yet.all my jars have been pced atleast 4-5 times so far. i also use quart jars. cakes are done in pint and 1/2 pint jars.

Ah, so with dry verm cakes (which I'm doing sorry about the confusing) I shouldn't shake them until they start to show signs of colonization?

Only tek I've read is for BRF, or seen. Then again, I don't pay attention to names. There's a four-part one by RogerRabbit I viewed, but none of them work without a pressure cooker (or using several pots). I just read you can use a microwave, but wouldn't that make the water content that's absorbed by the verm into steam? Please help :(

@Nice Ol Bud: To be honest, mate, I got the confirmation that my fake payment was received two days ago so I'm currently waiting for the fake package. There will be falsified photos though.

spore are 100% legal in 47 usa state. i only sterilize with a pc. so any other way i cant help with sorry. the brf/verm mix is what i did them i helped a buddy do cakes. i started right off with grain to bulk substrate.

I've decided to just go with the pots ghetto-rig way, no use wasting some fake product on something that may or may not work.

So anxious for those fake spores! :D:D

Will do, sadly the fake spores didn't arrive today. So I'm assuming they won't be here till Monday... kind of disappointing.

I GOT THE FAKE SPORES!!! So excited lol.

I accidentally shook them a lot (not really, but I didn't keep it perfectly still), it's in a cardboard box and I just put it tilted in my freezer. Is it going to be fine? Going to get the Jars, then bake my verm and then go make the mix and steam sterilize that bitch. :D :D :D

Pics at like 1-4am tonight !!!
