Get some fans blowing directly on those bulbs it makes an enormous difference, CFL's are easy to cool i bought 4 little 4" fans from wal-mart, they are Massey brand, and were 6 dollars and are amazing. i have 10 23watt 2700k and my temps get to around 84 but most of the time stay around 79. but i have to have the door cracked of the box like an inch lol. im going to try and find a portable AC and vent in and make some carbon filters for my exhaust since im starting flowering. goodluck with the heat man, its an ongoing battle with little boxes.

dam jp, this might be worth a try, huh? will see if my walmart has them tomorrow, do you just have them pointed at the lights inside the box audi?

ya you can check my grow(link in sig) i have my lights in 2 rows of five and one fan on each end blowing in, i dont know if that makes sense but you can kinda see in the pictures on the last page, but ya when i shut the door it gets to 90. i also have 3 120mm pc fans for exhaust on the back, they are like 150cfm each and i have a 120mm 80cfm can on for intake.

+REP to all

When my fans arrive i will clip one on to the lights and make sure its blowing at the bulbs. I have no idea why i have not thought of that earlier. certainly worth a shot since i have the extra fans on the way anyways.

Had to cull the smallest bag seed, so im down to three plants. One large bag seed, small short rider and a seedling short rider.

I really appreciate the suggestions and feedback, Keep em coming.

HELL BOX 2010

I clipped a small six inch fan to the reflector and aimed it at the bulbs. It seems to be working, temps are down to 86-88 degrees, i think i threw off the intake/exhaust balance when i added the six inch fan as an intake. I will be replacing the 120mm fan with another six inch but as an exhaust and this will make my exhaust the most powerful force again.

WELCOME TO HELL BOX 2010 :fire:

Temps have been reasonably cool for the old hell box. holding at 86 now but hopefully no higher than 88 over the course of the day. the clip on fan seems to be helping quite a bit. Still waiting on the second six inch fan but for now im pretty happy

these are 42 watt cfls. I was using 105 watt bulbs but temps rose pretty high then i switched to 2700k and only had the 42 watt bulbs on hand. I will come check out your girls now. thanks for the drop in.

Oh ok cool, a nice lil a grow cab :D

When are you planning on flowering? if you haven't already. I've never seen a CFL fixture that holds 3 bulbs like that, where did you get that?

Ive been flowering for 9 days so far, I got that reflector from stealth hydro. I was to hold 315 watts but still working out the temp issues.

hey man, any chance of tapping into the ac feed to the room the walk in closet is in? if you could, you can tap into the big tubing and run a dryer hose off it and cut a hole in the ceiling of the walk in and put in a vent. and that would cool, or atleast vent air in there. just a thought, i'm stoned, LoL.

I sure wish but im in a rental so no mods to the closet are possible. No attic space either. I have to keep this on the down low so basically I can only expect to stay as cool as ambient temp allows.. i can keep it at 86-88. I'm no where near done, still have to install some pieces of IR blocker and replace the 120mm fan with the six inch. i still believe i can pull a couple degrees out of the cab with the larger fan.

I will keep you posted!

I'm almost out of headroom, bag seed has been flowering 11 days.

I can gain some space by hanging the reflector differently, Just not quite sure how to do that yet. If i remove the yo yo hangers that would gain me 6 inches to a foot extra space. Right now i just have them hanging from U bolts in the roof of the cab.

Would you junk a large bag seed to improve conditions for a short rider?

Logic says hell yea, cut that fucker down.. But it's hard to do not knowing its sex, included are two pics, see anything in them male or female?

I dont see any signs but if its taking this long there is a good chance the plant is a female. My last two grow's my female too 14 days to show sex.

that's good to hear, I know nothing is guaranteed but if its female i will work on hanging that reflector some other way. Its taking up too much space the way it is, so i may have to take it apart after all and just have the light bar hanging over the plants.

This week i will install the 100 cfm fan correctly, Just have to enlarge the hole. I'll also finish lining the cab with IR blocker material. I'm not happy with the instillation and want it to be right. I need to get more light in that cabinet. Im not sure my fans can handle the 105 watt 2700K cfl's though.

Since i had them already ordered i will try to use them, but they will be twice as hot as my current bulbs so im pretty sure they will stay in storage for a later grow. I ordered them when i was planning the box and didn't think of the cooling problems so common in small cabinet grows.

I will keep y'all updated!

Well shit my fan fell and mangled my bag seed. So i chopped down that tree though it hurt like hell and decided to install the fan correctly. Its now sitting flush and wont happen again. stupid of me to be lazy in installing it correctly.

This will become a short rider only grow. So i lowered the light after i chopped down my tree. i'm focusing on the short rider which was what i spent money on so i have high hopes it will be a female.

I am researching shorter strains and will choose carefully from now on. I cant expect just any MJ plant to finish in the limited space i have.
