Just Starting Out

Sabi guys, I just started two seeds from my best weed and its my first time growing. I put them in a moist paper towel yesterday, folded a couple times, and in between two small plates taped together. I put the plates out side to get really warm and muggy, but when I bring them in I put them on top of the fridge because it's warm. I've tried this a couple times with lesser seeds and no results. Any help?

Put them some where dark dude, give a few days so ya get a nice tap, there be fine indoors unless you are doing a out door grow then i suppose you can do them out side, you do not want a seed to get to hot then i would defo not put them on something cold, sounds stupid but this could effect them further down the line, say the seeds have been got from a plant that was female but turned on the grower hermie, the last thing you want to be doing is hot then cold keep them on the side or in a draw till they hatch.

But you have done well with the clam method,if its warm out doors then bring them indoors you do not want too warm,by doing this you will fail before you start

Thanks I think I'm just gonna plant them soon and hope for the best
Insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results. I Suggest doing a lot of reading before you boil anymore seeds. JMTC
Kinda thought that was the whole reason I got on this forum.... was to read? Isn't that why you signed up? Or have you always just known everything about weed? If so I'd love to share in your expertise.

Don't know anything. But before I ask I research previous threads. usually the question has been asked and answered indept. There are numerous threads on germing seeds.

K. Anywho, my seeds are doing pretty good this go round they've been warm and moist not hot and dry at least. They seem to be swelling up nicely they should pop soon. Do you think I should just leave them in the plates or move them to a bag? I figure a bag seals better than two plates.

I think you should just put them in the dirt especially being a newbie (I am one as well) just veey easy to brake the fragile taproot. I dno about you but I have heavy hands even with tweezers trying to plant the taproot up is almost impossible especially being nervous doesn't help..germination only speeds up your process

Soak the seeds for a couple hours in a cup of water and then plant them in soil
The paper towel method never seemed to work well for me either. Here are 2 foolproof germination methods I have used which were learned from mj growers here on RIU:
1. Wet down a rockwool cube in PHed water & squeeze off the excess - place in a ziplock bag & keep in dark at room temp until it sprouts
2. Place seed in a shot glass with 2 tblsp of water- 24 hrs later pour the seed into your starter mix.
For the win:
Sprinkle some endo mycorrizea in the hole over the seed & cover lightly with soil

Hell yeah thanks bro. That's the first time I've gotten a full scenario in context. I've been looking everywhere for a full how to start a seed.

Please don't use rock wool everyone needs to stop using it...it is terrible for the environment ...it does not break down over time
