yah im noticing more and more peeps grabbing 500w units now..... I'm sticking with multiple 240 units and actually just bought another unit for my closet setup.... now its got 3 240 units and a 100 unit..... gonna be some delicious bud grown in that beast of a setup now. Will post pics of completed grow setup later today.

I agree with multiple 240s as opposed to fewer 500s. The only downside I see is more wires to deal with. The up side is a more even and adjustable lighting footprint in your grow areas and ability to have some lights high or lower to suit the growth habits of plants in mixed grows. Oh almost forgot,LOL, plants look really great kush.

lol notice i have 4 units and no hanging wires? If you manage your wiring well it comes out flawless still.... oh btw I want to make it 6 240w units total in there.

Been a minute since I've been on but still no blackstar for me....which sucks but I got my closet cleaned out a lil and I'm gonna be startin my thread soon considering two of my bubbelicious sprouted today. Anyway just wanted to stop by and check your shit out bro its lookin fantastic.

I spent $500 on my two light, but i am happy considering all the added benefits.....in a situation like mine, its kinda tough to grow with anything besides led's

What is the actual draw on the 240s? Have you seen DUNIT's grow lately? FAT ASS BUDS out of only 360 watts total draw. Not too shabby. Hes about a week and a half ahead of you in flowering.

the actual draw is about half so im working with about 240 actual watts........and yeah dunit does have some fat ass buds ive been on his thread......although he is actually 17 days ahead of me in flowering which is two and a half weeks .......our grows are totally different but i told him we would compare apples and oranges at the end

Kushgrove, you have 2 240 watt blackstars right? I talked to Gotham today and I asked about all the actual power draw on all their lights. This is what they had to say:

300 watt 1w Cree UV- 150w actual power draw!
240 Blackstar- 133w actual power draw
500 Blackstar- 304w power draw

I am so used to HID lights that when I found out that the 300 watter im using is only drawing 150 watts, I kinda freaked! But my plant is growing very fast and is very healthy. I just have to get over the fact that it is not the actual power watts used but the spectrum used in LED lights that make the plants flourish. After seeing your grow, and DUNIT's I have a little peace of mind that the low wattage can produce sick ass buds! I am only using one 500 Watt blackstar in my 12 sqft tent, and I hope that is going to be enough for 6 plants.

why freaked??? you should be happy to know that your plants are growing extremely well for even less on the light bill....lol
led's are twice as efficient in PAR lighting so your 150watt actual draw is equivalent to 300watt HPS
speaking of dunit, he has 9 plants going and your only going with six so you should be in good shape

I might have to look into one of the Black Stars, they seem pretty nice indeed.
I have the 90 watt one from HTG. I almost didn't get an LED based on all the negativity they have.
I am glad I did get it though, plants seem to be very happy.

Where did you get yours at?

Green Inferno, you can order directly at gotham hydroponics, or you can get an even cheaper price on EBAY! If you look at the seller on ebay, they are all from Gotham Hydro. So I bought mine with free shipping, and no tax on there. I see they have a couple 2011 Blackstars 240w for $289.95. The 500 I got was $550. If you call the number on ebay, it goes right to Gotham Hydro, VIctor is a real nice guy and will answer all your questions.

Thanks bro, just took 8 cuttings today in prep for my Grow tent and Blackstar next monday. This is my first LED grow, and everyday I open up that growbox, im a believer! But with me I always like the overkill, and 150watts doesnt sound enough to me! lol. After this growbox grow, ill be more comfortable. But so far LEDs rock man!

I will be definitely be calling him tomorrow. I have been dealing with HTG as of late, their LEDs are decent, the 90 watt one has
an unbeatable price, and it does work well. It is the one I am using right now. But their bigger ones are just too expensive. $650
for the 300 watt. Too much. $150 for 90 watts isn't bad though...

I am actually thinking about the Blackstar 600 watt, for $599. I am going to see if I can find some reviews or grow journals on
the 600.
