Does anyone know definitively what Black Haze is?
NL5/Haze supposedly but not definitively...depending on who you ask.
Also, the Cuban black haze 'clone only' has a flower time of around 90-100 days, PCF's says they have both longer and shorter flowering cuts so clearly TD is providing hybrids.. I wouldn't trust TD to produce anything other than untested chucks, maybe I'm just sour I spent 200$ on seeds to find bottom shelf quality plants...

Totally agree. Top Dawg is cashing in on brand names without doing any due diligence in breeding or testing.
I do somewhat agree...i have a pack of Black Piff......JJ posted nugs of it being sold by a colorado dispensary and my hype instantly went down tremendously.....i still wanna grow it....as its NYC Piff x Cuban Black Haze/Mango A5......but those nugs looked NOTHING like NYC Piff.....still looked fire....and customers in colorado raved about it....but I want that original NYC Piff.....not a cross that has 0 characteristics of it.

When I get the phenotype I'm looking for in Golden Tiger, I'll give you a cutting for free if you really do live near NYC. Compare it to whatever Piff you grow, I'd be interested in seeing what you think. This is gonna ready/tested by mid-may before I know for sure.

Yeah im in jersey about an hour from nyc....ive never smoked golden tiger (that i know of) but ive heard great things about it.....i wouldnt expect any cut for free, id be willing to trade some things maybe some seeds (unless you strictly grow cuts) or something....shit I dont even need a cut, especially right now (long story but my grow was destroyed and cant grow anything right now) - but maybe id trade for some ready to smoke buds lol we can figure it out

If I can find them in CO I'll confirm their quality asap. Most likely there's good expressions in the dispensary.
If I have to look through 2 or 3 '300$ packs' to find one acceptable lady its a no from me.
Yeah I dont know how many packs, hopefully just 1 because I NEVER purchase more than 1 pack of ANY strain lol

JJ worked directly with the dispensary on the grow from my understanding, so id say the quality they have (or had) is probably close to the best expression....ppl were saying it was awesome....but im skeptical of whether it was just some really good haze or whether nyc piff is clearly expressed through the terps, smells and actual high.....of course JJ says it is....but who knows.

All these packs sellout quick but then theres absolutely no journals or reviews anywhere to be had online and when that happens, my skepticism skyrockets.

Is there a Piffy pheno in Golden Tiger??
Piff isnt anything like the pheno I'm looking for, zero funk, sweet and spicy like a Thai. The effects are from the malawi parent, what my friends told me "cocaine", I've never done coke or Adderall but that's what they thought I laced it with. Everyone I smoked this particular plant with thought it was laced.

Oh gotta love those racey sativas.....hazes aren't racey at all to me either....but ive had some Snowdawg that was extremely racey....and AK47 can be racey to me before relaxing me....and even Gelato 33 gives me quite a bit of raciness but nothing ive smoked has matched the Snowdawg.....cinderella 99 was described to me as racey/trippy but im currently smoking it and dont get any of that, although it is very potent.

I am just now getting to know some Thai.. for sure will be posting about the Piff cuts when things get interesting.
I am running world of seeds 'Wild Thailand' right now, smells are ranging from Burnt Rubber and Citrus to clean sweet floral and almost chemmy/shitty, but they all have a certain similar quality as well. Decently fast flowering, manageable height and 12/12 from seed with less than 6ft of vertical space. Lightly pollinated everything with a Cuban Black Haze IX male found in a pack from SunshineStateSeedCo.

The only thai I have i might run outdoors in 2022 being I cant grow indoors currently is Chocolate Thai from Hazeman.....and I know its not the 100% original chocolate thai but its close....has phenos that go 14+ weeks, but some finish in as little as 9....ive been thinking of doing it outdoors (may not survive in this climate though) so i plan on running Durban Poison as well and maybe throw a haze out there and pray for the best.

Ive never grown outdoors though, so that would be an all new adventure for me.

I'm pretty sure PCF said somewhere their Black Haze is the same thing JJ has... that he was the one who gave it to JJ... that the Piff s1-2 came from bag seed initially, and wasn't quite it, and the Black was given to JJ after he lost his original cut, (which was probably sourced by Money Mike)... but I could be way wrong here.

There's no way you can finish those outdoors in this area, go for something faster like "Jack the ripper", which can finish at 9 weeks.

You would have to start the stuff around June indoors then move them outdoors. The mid October chills and humidity would mold up anything close to harvest.

That's my jam. It means I have no shortage of interesting F1's to look through helps preserve my stock and it gives me something interesting to hand out to fellow connoisseurs who may be looking for the genetics. Chucks can also turn into great repeatable strains, I've worked a few of them down the line to stabilize certain traits and ended up with stuff I am really happy with. For every one successful chuck/strain there's at least 10 which aren't or have little chance of seeing the light of day either way.

An example of a pretty successful chuck (and a shout out to @Senokai for growing out the Dirt Stick F4 (Columbian Gold X Cackleberry)and getting this great photo.)
