Damn, I was hoping the Lumigrow would put up more of a fight against our 2, 126W units. I was expecting more out of 330W...

there are alot of things that i wish i would have done different. mainly the distance of the unit, and the container. next test i will be using square pots. there will also be much better coverage as i will be using 2 units up against a 600w HPS. im nearing the end of this test, and then i will start setting up the testing area for the next round. only 1 more week to go, from today.

the genetics of the strain is Purple#1xBigBud. the name of the strain, is Purple Rain.(northern cali, clone only)

LEDgirl, whats the word on the Ganja Guru? i hope his test is doing excellent. fuckin Ed, he's gettin old. been in the game for along time.

All those claims made of the products superiority to me were exactly as I suspected False, They claim a 330watt unit is the equivalent of a 600watt HPS lamp and that is true of almost every single distributor or business that makes them, so why is it you need 2 overpriced units to even MATCH what a HPS light can produce, I have one 600w over one plant and its gonna net about 6oz's plus popcorn, why doesnt your LED do that?

I think the plants look good, and I don't think its necessary to tell the grower in his own journal that his light sucks. That's not too chill now is it. The lumigrow is a nifty unit, as I own one as well. I can't put up any real comps because I don't have a decent strain. I can tell you that the lumigrow creates a frostier bud than the 180W jumbo ufo. Thats for certain.

I think comments about the light not performing well should wait until the end of the grow when weigh in time comes. Plus there are a lot of other factors, which can make harvest be plus or minus.

Nobody is forcing anybody to buy an LED light, so who cares about the cost. I paid more for my lumigrow than it is selling for today. Oh well. It grows plants, it doesn't produce heat, plus it has the ability to stack/stretch with a turn of a knob!

Don't get me wrong, I am not taking sides here, but lets give all of these new technology's a chance before we completely disregard the fact that it may work. Maybe not the same as a 600W light, but hey, its only 330 watts, even if it produced the same as a 400W your still saving energy!

Keep it positive peeps, I am excited to see this grow finish out! You all gotta take into consideration the things that Cali is regretting or wishes he would have done different in this grow, such as individual pots, which would have made the plants even bigger.

If we are to the point where we are bitching about buds being made....then where do we really stand, people.

Peace and Love

But you are going to need to harvest a hell of a lot more than a 400 watt HPS worth of bud to make back the initial money you spent on the light.
It will take a while to make back all that money and in that time you could be using a cheaper HPS light and harvesting much more bud
This LED light business is hopeful at best at the moment, the price is too high for there to be any real positive reasoning behind getting one
No offense calibuddz, keep doing your thing I really enjoy following your progress
LED lights do work well but for the start up cost it really doesn't seem to have enough pro's for it be worth it

yeah, i guess it all depends on the growers status and situation. i already made my money back on the last round with the 250w. i will always use HPS for hefty weight until i can afford to replace them with LEDs. this is what i do, i grow. i am not butt hurt, i am impressed. when i started using LEDs i really didnt expect them to do anything close to what the manufacturers claimed. this unit is doing the best by far.

PotPatriot, i am doing a watt for watt test to determine which lighting will work better for power consumed. i would also love to do a test with 1 unit against a 600w. the only thing lacking with LEDs is coverage in my opinion. the quality is phenominal. the denseness of the buds really makes up for the size. like i stated, i wish i would have done some things different. i am new to this shit, just like all of you. if i was a salesman, dont you think i would have some great financial backing? i only got what i got, and i wish to share this test with all. i know that LEDs are the future. i just gotta fine tune this shit. seperate pots should have been used, but i used what i had. i am still super impressed with this round.

you also have to see that the claims arent based on growing/flowering Cannabis. if only it was legal for them to do so, but sadly the feds dont take that shit too kindly.......FUCKERS!! thats where WE step in. its up to us yall. OVERGROW THIS MUTHA FUCKA! GROW THE WORLD GREEN!!

Its not always about money....

Let him do is grow, if ya don't like it, just move on then. No need for negativity, or criticism that lacks constructive applications.

Keep it real peeps.

LOOKIN GOOD CALI! Don't stop doing what your doing.

did you even read my post? I said I enjoy following his thread
I was just pointing out the reason why this isn't getting much attention and why LED's are not used from a non LED users point of view

I am going to switch to an HPS for the winter as in from now on until the spring months and then switch to LED for the summer months and fall!

there is no offense taken, for everybody. this is a very touchy subject. as for LumiGrow VS other LED companies, we are messing with peoples livelyhood. there are going to take it personal. i am just here to show my progress with LED lighting in my garden. i wanna get a bunch of units and surround a 1000w HPS for future grows. would be a killer addition to my room. this is not an HPS VS LED test, i know the benefits of Sodium, and LED as well. i think that they go hand in hand, and should complement eachother very well. i wouldnt tell anyone to switch over to LED completely, just give it a shot, welcome the alien into your grow room. you wont be disappointed. this post isnt directed towards anyone, im just blabbin. damn Vicodin and Flexeril got me zoned. hahaha.

7 1/2 week update. 3 more days, and then they get the axe. should be a week from then and i will have the dried weight results. id say the buds are medium size. what is also suprising is that my HPS buds arent too much bigger. could be because i only used 1/4 strength on my boosters. im gonna hit em hard next round. i still havent purchased my second unit for the next test, but will very shortly. enough chatter, here are some pics...

lets throw some HPS comparison shots. this is to compare bud structure, not a true test comparison. i recently harvested the tops, so the buds pictured are the clusters just below.
