My Cannabutter

I should have cooked it lower temp and shorter time ;) it is a lot burnt tasting. Coconut oil doesnt do that i am new to the VG thing.

And do the butter in a slow cooker. Get coconut oil next time you can (Cheapest by far is costco next place is no frills where you get 2.5 kg or so jars) and you can see if you like it better. IT is way higher in saturated fat than butter and that is why it absorbs more THC. :D A slow cooker is as good as the MGBM for butter and coconut oil for sure.

The MGBM is just easy. You dont grind or anything toss in whole buds with stems and everything it blenderizes it as it heats it and it has sensors to know.

Or i was REALLY high.

Could be both really. SCIENCE is fucking awesome.
Thank you for the advise. I am planning coconut next time.

Bahahaha.... I love science too. I just checked out what VG is.... So it's great for vape pens and cooking? Or so I thought I read.... Very stoned. I love the bud I grew. I had quite a few obstacles to overcome. had to cut my tent down to fit loft height. ( Very low ) 5ft and a bit. Then over vegged as the stretch turned the tent into a jungle. So I learnt about low stress and high stress training and what yo yo s in the grow shop were for. Then insufficient lighting. Then had humidity issues, brought a dehumidifier and spider mite. With all the super cropping I did and defoliating ( so lower buds could see the light ) I am so pleasantly surprised that I didn't end up with any hermies.
So my bud tastes and smells great and certainly does the trick. My friends are fairly impressed. I owe a lot to all of the great community rollitup has.

I use about 3/4 of an oz per cup of VG. For coconut oil about the same per cup. VG is a lower temp than Coconut oil. They both act a bit different too. Coconut oil in a brownie is tasteless (brownie is delicious). I like the brownie approach better. But oil doesnt mix with water so i use VG in my coffee to get going. The gummies use 1/4 cup for about 1 1/2 cups of gummies (24 tablespoons or 72 teaspoons of gummybear size). For coconut brownies i use the recipe on frys cocoa and sub the 1 cup of butter for coconut oil for butter (you can use cannabutter too) and they come out pretty awesome. I cut em in 16 so each is 1 tablespoon of oil and i tell people i gift them to to cut them in 3 for 1 teaspoon per so they get an idea of strength.
Oh excellent. Thank you for info. I'm liking the sound of VG coffee. I might try an Irish coffee VG.. now that will definitely get me going.

Hello Folks :peace:

Today I tried my hand at making cannabutter. I researched a bit and found all to be quite similar. Of course butter and coconut oil are different and to use water or not. But mostly say decarboxylate in the oven at 240° and others say 200° ( I did at 210° so I didn't blacken the buds and make my butter bitter ). For around 30 minutes. Shaking the baking tray from time to time.
Then melt butter in water ( some say bad idea to use water ) then add the decarboxylated bud. Simmer 3 hours.
My ingredients
75gr smaller buds ( not leaf etc )
300gr butter ( not spreadable )
2 tea cups water.

I simmered for 3 hours stirring slowly.
Then strained through a dish cloth and colander ( didn't have cheese cloth )
Then let room cool. Then placed in fridge to set. Took 2 hours. They say once set drain off excess water. I didn't have any excess. Simmered/steamed out well.

Tested. And yummy :P ( quite strong ) must make sure GF is aware of strength.

Anyone for some passion fruit chewies? Or Christmas Cake?

Hello Folks,
Today I made banana bread. I used 50gr decarboxylated butter and 50gr normal butter. I also finely grated Galaxy chocolate on top. The banana bread gets you well mashed. My GF and our 20yr old daughter vegged out on sofa. Dishes not washed. ... Guess that's my fault hey.
I also made lollipops. Passion fruit, lime and strawberry. The strength vary as I am testing. Green is weakest, then yellow then red the strongest. The girls know to start with the greens to see how they get on. But that won't be tonight. I never had lollipop molds so just dolloped on wax paper. I used kebab sticks for the lollipop sticks. I think they will all be seriously strong. And very fruity. I used 25ml of canna oil for the 9 lollipops.

And instead of sugar I used Splenda.

Hello :peace:

Ingredients

*Lollipop molds ( I didn't have so spooned onto wax proof paper - hence the odd shapes )
*Lollipop sticks ( I couldn't find any at the time, so I used cut down kebab sticks )
*Non stick cooking spray
*1 cup sugar - brown/white ( I used 1 cup of Splenda )
*1/2 cup light corn syrup
*1/4 cup bottled still water
* 30gr fruit flavoured jelly powder.
( I used sugar free )
OR alternatively you can use
*1 and half teaspoon of natural fruit extracts. ( But that's taste buds depending )
* Canna oil. I used 25ml of seriously strong oil. You can use tincture... But I have never even seen tincture let alone cooked with it. I'm new to the canna confectionery world.

You will also need a candy thermometer. They are not expensive and are a must. You will need to ensure that your ingredients reach a minimum temperature of 150°c. This is for what is known as the hard crack stage.

** At the "soft crack" stage, the syrup forms threads that are just pliable. At the "hard crack" stage, the threads are brittle ** courtesy Wikipedia

Method

1) Put the cup of sugar/splenda, the 1/2 cup corn syrup and the 1/4 cup bottled still water into a saucepan on medium heat. Stir until sugar/splenda and corn syrup dissolve.
2) Once dissolved turn up heat to boil.
3 Using the candy thermometer allow temperature to reach 150°c.
4) Remove saucepan from heat and wait until temperature drops to 100°c. Then pour in your canna oil and jelly or canna oil and natural fruit extracts.
5) Pour into lollipop molds.
6) Wait for them to set roughly 35 minutes.
7) Wash the dishes.

* Mine are kinda overlarge and ugly. Next time I will have lollipop molds or molds of sorts. Ie maybe ganja leaf molds? And make them somewhat smaller and more aesthetically appealing. Two things I do know is that they are going to be tasty and very strong.

Enjoy

You should look into the magic butter machine. I use it all the time. It’s like the old showtime rotisserie machines set it and forget it lol. Plus it does an awesome job.
I have an mbm2 machine & i have question since u own one. Do you have to decarb before making butter? I see a lot of people on the internet saying that they just throw their flower in without decarbing nd it come out great for them but other people say to decarb. Do you decarb your flowers before making butter or not?

I just bought a NOVA decarb machine! I decarbed the nugs whole then grinned them up made brownies with a little 1/3 cup reg oil a little extra canna coconut oil and some lecithin powder and the 7 grams of straight decarb. Things will knock you on your butt! And the coconut oil mutes the weed taste they are yummy!
Does your NOVA decarb machine still work? I’ve been thinking about buying one but reviews on the internet say that it is made with cheap material & only lasts for a couple of time before it breaks down.

I did once never noticed a big difference. It gets warm enough long enough and comes out plenty strong. It doesn’t hurt to decarb but again I can tell little difference.

I’ve decarb my bud before nd it kinda burned so i just threw it in the machine because I wasn’t gonna throw 1/2 oz of flower away nd i made butter the butter tasted kinda burnt but the edibles i made had me high for more than 6 hours and it was just half a rice krispie that i ate. But when u did it without decarbing did u put it as the same temperature it requires to make the butter for 2 hours?
