are they big or small for their age? (3 weeks today) hard to find pics of a similar strain online to compare

Every strain is different. They look about the right size. A little small but considering the low wattage and spectrum of your bulb, they are doing superb. Your stems look nice and fat and the inter-nodal length is short, which is a good thing. I flower at a foot and a half. With 3 gal. pots I would suggest topping them at a foot, wait a week to recover from the stress, and then switch the cycle. The 250w wont penetrate the canopy very deeply, so you don't want them to big. After you top it, the lower branches will catch up to the top some and establish themselves as strong bud sites.

nice man thats encouraging thnx and ill take your advice and top them once they have 5 or 6 nodes is that ok?

I technically top at the 7th node, but I always cut off the lowest set of branches because I've never had them reach a canopy. The amount of nodes in the first foot depends on many things though. Where-ever they are at a foot, cut the top off is my tradition. I topped some of mine last Monday, you can see how much they have grown since when I do the Monday update in my thread. i did before and after-topped pictures last week, so you can see what got cut off.

I tried that a few times. I didn't like how many tops it made, they only seemed to serve to block the lower branches once they matured. Nothing teaches more than experience though. try it on one and see if you like it.

For your first grow, I would try that too. It's easy to listen to advice but much more helpful to experiment. I can't tell you how many plants were my Guinea pigs till i found what I like. All in the name of progress.
