Nice hoods this shop carries.. every bit as good in quality as the xxxl hoods.. hinged completely gasket sealed glass.. also has little retractable metal wire that holds the weight of the glass and only lets it fall about 2 feet open when you want to clean the glass.. no more moving plants out the way .. no more fear of the glass falling down and breaking .. Hood is exact same measurements as a xxl hood as well .. available in 6" and 8" ducting openings.. really jazzed about the product they are offering.. Out the door price for the Hood and bulb was 185.00.. cant beat it. Any body wanna donate for and ounce of the hindu kush so I can afford another one for the other side the tent LOL

That hood looks great man. I like the triple X, although I was just telling Steezz the other day that I like the hinge doors on the glass. His 400w has one, I am very envious that's for sure. The new girls coming up to harvest are going to be a joy. You didn't tell us the brand of your hood though, need that for any newbs looking to upgrade. (I also wanna look into them haha).

This grow has caused me to go out and add another 1000w to my room... Damn it, your costing me money, lol. I wish so bad that we had a store out here to cop supplies and equipment, now I got to wait for the UPS man...

the hood is a exclusive from that hydro shop.. CAL WEST RIVERSIDE CA... not sure if they can be ordered online.. but I have owned a xxxl.. and this hood looks the same if not better and for 160 bucks.. 185 with bulb and tax out the door.. CANT BEAT IT.. then the cool feature of holding the glass so it doesnt go all the way down.. is awesome .. ill demo how it works in a photo tonight when I get it hung.. lights come on in a
hour..

That baby is going to make a huge difference in your canopy. Congrats on the new addition! And remember (3) 600w is always better than (2) 1000w :} haha I kid I kid.

if it is show me lol.. I like 600's .. dont get me wrong .. but I also dont want all the extra equipment in a tent (3 hoods 3 ballast in the room 3 timers or a light controller ).. Plus I like the extra 200 watts.. You get better penetration with 1000's .. big deal breaker is the heat.. if you cant control it .. its a no go ....

wow amazing grow. i didnt know it was ur first. my first grow was in february and harvested in april. was pretty good for my first time. your's looks stellar compared to mine. way better i just had a 400 watt hps on 2 plants, blue dream and white widow. both turned out pretty damn good. dense and sticky.

Well its not my first grow.. Just my first solo.. im kinda cheating.. I grew on and off for the last couple years at other members of the collective's house's.. then I decided I really didnt like some of the stuff going on so .. I went and did my own solo grow at home.. this is the first time I have had to manage everything .. loving it.

Dude you are going to love the spread on that hood. My two 8" xxxtremes are massive, and look about the same size. They fit 12 bushy ass vegging plants under there nicely! Only problem with mine is there's no hinge, You have to slide the glass out. It's not horrible but you definitely went the right way.

Ya I love IT .. now I got it in there .. it is amazingly so much brighter then the hood right next to it.. just even light all the way to the corners... the hood is huge ...

I hear dubbz on that sliding glass, it gets old real quick.

Alotaball, You get 1200w with two 600w lights. The light penetration after 600w is also negligible, that is in comparison of the amount of energy vs. efficiency. I recently gave Steezz a book that describes this in detail, so I don't have it on hand to give a bunch of references. It basically says 2 lights are always better than 1 light. I believe many people confuse this quite often. Like in a game of 'Telephone', were you tell someone something, and by the time it gets back to you it is completely different. With heat and everything taken in, you can get the same penetration with a 600w because it can be closer to the canopy (unless you get one of those Water Jackets). I unno, maybe Steezz can tell you, he has the book, haha. Going to look for some girls! Wish me luck!

Lantern we are not talking about 1000 watts vs 2 600 watters... Everybody knows 200 more wattage would be better from more points of light. I am talking about my particular situation.. I do not wish to have 3 hoods 3 ballast 3 bulbs 3 glass to clean all in a tent.. 1000 watters are more logical in my situation.. and the extra 200 watts doesnt hurt over the 1800 watts I would get from 3 600's. Some times you dont read to come up with solutions that work for YOUR situation.. you actually have to do it... THis is an age old debate and I dont wish to debate it with you in this thread.. Most books are greatly opinionated as well.. you know how many age old books are proven wrong or questionable daily that were considered grow bible's for years. Another thing I have no Idea what you mean about being able to put the 600 watter closer to the canopy? Maybe in a open hood that is very true.. BUT that is the point of a air cooled system.. I can lay my palm flat on my glass of my hood and not get burnt.. I can set the hood 6-8 inches above my canopy with no problems with burning because the lights are cooled? So you going to say 155,000 LUmens is not greater then the 90,000 lumens or so that a 600 puts out at the same height? Now if I had to keep my hood higher above the canopy cus of the heat... the yes the lumen gain would be negligible because it would be lost in the distance. Sometimes you have to stop reading and start applying .. and see what works for you .. but once your grow is done .. I am more then willing to compare yield results and bud density with you. I have grown at the collective under 600 watters.. eye hortilux mind you.. I have grown under 400 watters.. I have grown under 430 watt ceramic Metal Halide's ( wide spectrum) .. And I can tell you the best results I have seen is from this lighting setup ..Also at the collective I use to grow it .. he had 600's next to 400's and even a couple 1000's in the room.. I could walk in the grow room and tell you which lights were what just by looking at the intensity down the plant. I can tell you that if you put a 400 a 600 and a 1000 watter all above the canopy approx 8 inches.. the 1000 watter will penetrate farther and that it will produce more yield... 155,000 lumens at the same canopy distance as 88,000 lumens is more plain and simple.. Have you ever ran a 1000 watter in your life? or grew under 1 ?

To put it simply 3 600 watters will produce 264,000 LUMENS ... 2 1000 watters produce 310,000 lumens... If both hoods are at the same canopy distance there is NO comparison !
